Who the hell is gonna bother over some forum posts?
I mean, fair enough, if someone wants to track you down, they can now go to the black hooded man and look up all of your possible character names to see if they can find you. Provided they have the energy to do that. And are on the same server. And you aren't in the desert or on the ocean.
Most of the people that my guild have wanted to track down that badly were griefing or karma bombing. And we frequently won't even bother doing that, because if you are that scared of us, you have probably learned your lesson anyway and won't be bothering us for a while.
Other than that, what have you done that someone would put in that much effort to track you down? And if they do, that jumps into harassment territory, which the GMs have dealt with before.
I've always posted, both here and on Kakao forums, under my family name. It hasn't been a problem because I am not a shithead troll.
A few of who right now think this is a good idea, probably haven't realized the full implications yet. The amount of griefing possible with access to literally all your character names makes, it easy to track anyone. There is an NPC in the game which allows you to pin point character names.
So legit anything related to building, to harassing, to someone going after roleplayers, to someone just being on a personal vendetta and wanting to grief someone out of the game, is possible with this much info.
Someone with bad intentions or behaviours is relatively immune to this, because those don't to be the social or lifeskilling type, nor organizing stuff in siege guilds for that matter.
I think it fit a game like this perfectly. I believe it is you would don't understand BDO. The whole premise of BDO is to be a degrenerate griefer paradise. Where those who enjoy griefing others into quiting the game. Will spend well beyond $100,000 to do so. This whole game is a system built to profit off players causing extreme grief and misery to others. That's why most of the group PvE spots requires very high gearscores. It's to force players to be vulnerable until in most cases. They spend insane amounts of money to be able to compete with the griefers.
So these Devs giving high paying griefers the tools they need to grief. Is not far fetch at all. As a matter of fact it's perfect for the choice of monetization strategy here. People will either spend massive amounts of money to compete, or they'll quit.
Of course the Devs throw in a few moves into the mix. By allowing a extremely small amount of players to have very high positive RNG seeds. So they can go around trying to convince people you don't need to pay. It's the same tactic lottery agencies use IRL.
I'd say this is more of an issue for people that like to be douche bags on the forums, and can no longer hide behind anonymity. If people literally grief you and follow/harass you, then report them.
Pearl Abyss will not intervene if people are griefing others through PvP. Because that's the nature of their game. The victim of the harassment will have to use in-game or out-of-game methods to stop the perpetrator/s. That's why I think Pearl Abyss should take this a step further. And force display everyone's full name, and how much they've spent on the game on these forums. That way reprocussions for griefing can be dealt out.

People who come here acting like a-holes might deserve a little in-game grief. I am fine with this.
The people who worry most of their information showing, are the ones who behave the most like 9 year old temper tantrum.
