Now that the rework notes are well rounded up and we can see approximately where each class lands, we can honestly say that the reworks essentially turned into a giant balance patch bringing some classes up, leaving others in the same spot - but definitely not raising all of them to the fun of the newest classes of the game.

 

TL: DR

I am not going to go into the problems of each class rework as it's been done ad nausea already, and I'll focus on a blanket solution via looking at one of the most fun mechanics in the game - Nova's Accel Meter and Mode. This feels like something that Black Spirit Rage or the Q buff (as it does on Zerker with rework) should feel like. It gives you variety when you are playing to feel like your is fresh every 100% of accel. 

 

IDEA 1 - Merge Q buff and BSR

The rationale behind this would be streamlining the resources that we already have to manage into a single one that can be used for multiple things - as well as allowing us to see versions of the mythological 150-200% skills from time to time.

  • In addition, make Q buff give 50% BSR to all es (as it does to Nova's accel currently;
  • Activating Q buff gives you access to Limited versions of 50-100-200% BSR skills (with a long CD);

IDEA 2 - Add an 'Accel' mechanic to all other classes (whether it's a meter, the q buff, or smth else, u figure it out).
The mechanics should vary from class-to-succ/awe so that it creates a lot of variety when it's popped both in PvE and PvE - and it really starts feeling and functioning like an ultimate in other games ;) . Here are some of
my ideas for each class, I don't play every so excuse me if some of my suggestions are meh.  
Any additional eas you might have in the comments (see: "Dream that will never happen")  will be listed in this main thread with credit to their creator. It will state By #Name# next to each idea. If you have videos with ideas to suggest, please do, so that I can add theirs to this thread like Kaiju's.

Italics are purely opinion.

 

Ideally, in addition to an ability from beneath, everyone would even get 'accel' specific skill and flows, and changed animations and mini-effects on all of their skills - alla Nova. Some classes might fit multiple/combinations of these ideas and they are most likely interchangeable as a mechanic between classes, but I'd leave that to the pop op.

Warrior

Succession:

  • Leaves a shield that FGs on the ground (3 charges). Has 100 guard relative to War's guard
  • Sword extends to 2hander size and some skills start mirroring awe skills (+ effects)

Awakening:

  • Turns into Guts from Berserk..properly. Add some duration-dmg-range and savage to his abilities.
  • Steal the Ult mechanic from Berserker in Lost Ark
  • Give his attacks Cleave echoes

 

Ranger

Succession:

  • God Arrows falling from the sky with every skill she casts
  • Root field that follows her, or opens up from her skills that Slows/Poisons

Awakening:

  • Wind tornados

 

Sorceress

Succession:

  • The Shade of Cartian: Add longer animations-duration-range and hints of Awe skills in non-awe skills (ie. Violation/Turnback being as long and extendable as in awe, Crows popping in Prime: Bloody Calamari, Reaper on Dark Flame, etc.)
  • Sinister Omen does a billion damage.. or actually DOES something, like casts mini DoDs/Calamaris when you use Shard Expending skills
  • Decrease Iframe Stamina Cost and Increase Range. Succ has no S-Block, and lackluster chase, so it would be to chill for 45s every 3 min.
  • Integrate these Skill Ideas By Kaiju (https://youtu.be/2EALwJ564T4?t=1079) into existing skills while in the Mode
  • Levitation (Ya, I know it sounds OP, but the little k sorcs in Tarif can do it -_-). Can be also just an animation (like sorcs float in Calamari) and give immunity/resistance to movement impairment

Awakening:

  • Allowing her to explode long/instacast animation skills for 75% damage. CDs stay the same tho, so she'd have to chain back some non-awe skills again.
  • Bat minions attacking mobs, or spawning on every skill
  • Cartian's Wings: Flight, why stop at levitation? (-_-)

Berserker

Succession:

  • Hey, he's almost there

Awakening:

  • Add implosion effect to the cannon shots

Tamer

Succession:

  • Hielang's Frenzy: make that shit autonomous and uber dangerous for 45s(?). Very slow animations, but big damage (ie. Red Boss/Olun skills)

Awakening:

  • If you are not implementing a Monkey King soon, just give all of that staff extension fun to Tamer plx

Musa

Succession:

  • Honorable Duel (Legion Commander's ult): Taunts 1 player or X Mobs (can be a zone that you can exit and highlights the Musa for the affected player). You don't take damage from anyone else and kill(s) give temp dmg/stat buff. This could raise Succ Musa to a high level even in Pve at places with low mob density.

Awakening:

  • Fire-nados?

Maehwa

Succession:

  • X

Awakening:

  • Railgun range on all of her skills while the mode is active

Valkyrie

Succession:

  • Temporary (over-)health buff (mby even aoe for pt members)
  • AoE buff Aura - more support in bdo plx
  • Immunity to CC
  • Holy Wings with insane hp-restore tics
  • Lightsaber her sword with holy energy

Awakening:

  • Divine Penetrating Power: More FG Break & Ignore Resistance on all skills

Kunoichi (Interchangeable with Ninja-somewhat)

Succession:

  • The Reaping: Goes to stealth for 5s > next skill does unreasonable damage and buffs you for 40s depending on the success of your hit

Succession:

  • Kunai/Shuriken-nados?
  • Echoes / Vaccum on Skills

Ninja

Succession:

  • Battle to the death: If hp drops back to 0%, you get your HP restored to 25% but you cannot heal (both hp and skills) for X seconds
  • Ninja Clones: 2 more ninjas appear forming a triangle with the 'enemy' in the middle (can utilize Striker's current system). They all mirror your animations and do X% damage. They can be targeted and have X% of your health in PvE and PvP

Awakening:

  • Bloody Blade Conjuncture: Merges all of his Katanas into one red/black one and now has less flashy but more samurai-like animations for all skills. More range-damage-hp steal etc.
  • Each skill creates an echo slice that lingers in the spot for 2-3 seconds and deals damage

Wizard (Interchangeable with Witch)

Succession: 

  • Reverse Elementalism: Mini versions of the opposite element pop up with each skill with a bit of damage+effects of that element
  • Ethereal Summoning: Summons both Marg & Arne (or witch alternatives) in Etherial form and adds effects to Fire and Water skills

Awakening:

  • Pokemon Evolution LV 2 - Adding effects to pets (ie. Fireboi becomes big and gets a ton of HP while taunting mobs, Watergirl starts popping corsair waves on skills)

Witch

Succession: 

  • Missle Array - Magic Missle circle pops up behind her (daeva style) and shoots extra (long-range tracking or from-the-top back attacking?) missiles with each skill.
  • Arcane form - Idk how...but...Lasers. And m04r t3l3p0rtz.

Awakening:

  • Poke Field - Aura around summon that Slows(earth)/Damages-or/and-staggers(lightning)

Mystic

Succession: 

  • Super-Saiyan Mode - Ik it suits Stroker more, but she deserves it more and it will make her more desirable regardless of viability

Awakening:

  • Summons a huge asz dragon for 45s cus ydfn?

Striker

Succession:

  • He can have Kamehame on Wolf's Fang if he gets the SS Mode too
  • Savage Release: Goes into zerk mode with -DP (literally ripping the top part of armor off of him) and goes ham. Remove a bit of the martial arts from his animations and make them more savage.

Awakening:

  • Gets 2/4 more arms for that proper Asura immersion
  • Ancestors get Poke Lv2

Lahn

Succession:

  • Singing Pendulum: Starts emitting a "debuff" in waves. When it touches mobs/players, it marks them with a certain Lahn skill on top of their head. When she hits them with that skill she gets Buffs/Hp/Debuffs on Enemies/She gets Nerfed/Whatever or/and extends the duration of the Singing Pendulum (but not the q buff duration)
  • Crimson Sword: Her sword becomes red crimson and all of her sword skills have buffed dmg/range/hp

Awakening:

  • Crimson Awakening: Lahn turns bloody and leaves bloody footsteps which deal a lot of damage (can be merged with ability below). Her chain also grow longer allowing her to toss her glaives further
  • Crimson Field: Bleed+Dmg Tick AoE aura

 

Archer

Succession:

  • X

Awakening:

  • Make his non-awe abilities machinegun stagger
  • Even more range
  • Homing on some Skills (or in-the-sky back attacks)
  • Sage/Gilgamesh style wall of arrows launching from behind him alongside his skills

 

Dark Knight

Succession:

  • M04r thorns

Awakening:

  • M0ar swords.
  • Sword Aura: 8 swords orbit around you dealing damage to anything touching them - Truly a classic.
  • Vacuum away from DK

Shai

  • Florang splits into multiple golden ones on each skill for the duration of the mode dealing more damage/debuffing/buffing
  • A dank sound system appears boosting the range and effects of her music. Ties to the music-creating system to create a minigame to extend this to infinity and learn BDOs songs.

Guardian

Succession:

  • Earthquake Field: Staggers-Slows-Damages. Rocks (with hp) appear from the ground vacuuming mobs towards guardian (like space skill in Awe)

Awakening:

  • Phoenix Awakening: The phoenix comes down into her making her ooze lava, as well as decreasing the CD on her phoenix skill
  • Slow down her animations even further but give her elvia weapon skill damage. Each skill speeds up the CD of the Q buff for 3-5s. Visually, she rips off the axe blade from the handle and starts hamming things with the blade herself - summons a new handle like a baws at the end of the duration.

Hashashin

Succession:

  • Darkness Field: Decreases DP. Lets Hash create multiple TP nodes or while he is in the field he can tp to the back of the enemy with certain skills.
  • Some Shadow Nados that popup/explode/vacuum each cast of certain skills

Awakening:

  • Summons a Sandstorm Dragon that does its own thing and swings to enhance his skills when you use them alla Wiz/Witch pet

 

Nova

Succession:

  • Frozen Dominion: Each attack stacks frost and explodes for freeze/damage after X attacks
  • Queen's Stampede: Summons a swarm of soldiers running at the enemy with each skill exploding in frost glory

Awakening:

  • Add more depth

Sage

Succession:

  • Short Circuit: Sage overloads his Kyve and starts chain-lighting mobs/players around him (ez pullz yo). After a few stacks, it has a % to stun/stager
  • Dimensional Overload: (% in PvP) Teleport/Vacum enemies on TP or Skills in front of the Sage [Bring a bit of portal in this game]; I know this could be really dangerous with the current desync + geometry state of the game, but it would be fun AF.
  • Fractal Field: Decreases Attack Speed around the sage significantly for 3s. PVP/Mobs cannot be affected more than once (they get a debuff immunity like other mechanics alla this)

Awakening:

  • Kyve Recall: A kyve appears with all of your skills and adds some fractal fluff back into awakening

Corsair

Succession:

  • Water field letting her infinitely glide (even on water). It's only 45s, it would be fun, so who cares.

Awakening:

  • Where is the pirate ship?
  • buffer scallywag (but still adorable) shows up and starts tossing TNT barrels into the fray

 

 

I've been playing this game for 2.2k hrs now going through every possible content so I can tell that it is not currently headed in the right direction, both content-wise and community-wise. We need to (re)connect with PA in one way or another to make the game bearable for every class. I welcome more ideas/critiques to add or make changes to this system, as well as individual abilities that can amend this list to infinity so that mayhaps PA will have a pool to draw eas from.

Personal Notes:

The rants below should not be taken in the context of this post, it just is what it is, had to vent out somewhere. 

 

Generally, many of the problems could(ve) be avoided/resolved by implementing a better Global Labs infrastructure for testing and gaining feedback from actual players (both quantitatively and qualitatively). It would be very easy to get people to participate as long as there is a simple(r) sign-up solution and to have the Devs break-and-fix stuff, as well as experiment, a bit faster than currently. 

  • Yup, some of the eas are game/engine/server breaking, give better ones and adjustments plx.
  • Yup, the title, and writing are clickbaity, you need to get people to read shit.
  • I blame all and any spelling on the text editors on the forums and them copying shit wonkily (and mby some 3 AM insomnia and weed).
  • Putting this on multiple platforms cus tbh, none of us knows what PA is really reading. Their community engagement (especially for essential game balance) is next to non.
  • A lot of us felt like the reworks are going to be on the level of what the remaster felt for the graphics. They are a balance patch that doesn't even balance.
  • Maybe the worst offender of this rework is the notion that they were going to make unused/obsolete skills useful, yet they left a BUNCH of those on a bunch of classes - as covered in multiple specific threads.
  • This rework is starting to make a lot of us numb to the game and changes. The strangest thing is that when it comes to the stats of the game which should be the simplest thing to balance in terms of PvE, is still getting the best changes for the most carry classes and the worst for the gutter. Is it seriously that difficult to get the PVE grinding stats of each in each spot and see how they are performing? If it is, just base it on Garmoth stats and move on.
  • On the topic of stats, the whole -vs- hidden stat ratios should be made transparent and looked over immediately. The stats board was a good first step out of the next 25 steps that need to be taken stat-wise.
  • It's apparent that resources for BDO are scarce in PA, but now that they've gotten themselves and the game to this state, they need to dedicate a team that is going to constantly tweak the balance of these and future changes a lot more frequently. If it has to be the current team (which a lot of us feel like don't play the game, or have only tried a few classes), and there is nobody more competent to train them in PA, then, for god's sake, get those devs down with players from each week and make their wishes come true.

That is true that BSR is a dead feature, just like the mayority PA does, but they don't seem to care.

Nova's accel state should be removed and the class should be balanced without it.

The buff is currently ridiculously overpowered so novas just kite and wait for it to be up before fighting

Removing mechanics / nerfing skills is not the way to go. It's been tried by PA and countless other companies (in MMOs, Mobas and FPSs) and it most often leads to disappointment.

 

Every other class should rise to that level of fun, instead of wanting everyone to suffer the same way as you.

The good ol' "I suffered for so long so I want everyone else to suffer the same" is not going to work for us, not for this game.

 

Sage / Nova / Corsair (and Hash to a Degree) are tuned after years of experience with the game and have gotten kits that work with the new content coming out kept in mind. They are not over-tuned, they are perfectly tuned and all of the other classes are out of sync with the rest of the game. Hence [the need for] the rework.

 

When doing such reworks, you don't nerf down the meta classes and remove their mechanical fun so that the game can be balanced - that is a balance patch - what you do is ADD mechanics and options to all of the other classes to bring them up to the flow of those classes. There isn't a single game that achieved (a semblance) of balance with nerfing [unless something was really obviously broken] - and most certainly not a single game that left players happy after balancing by nerfing - but MANY MANY games that have made their players happy by blanket buffing everything else or taking the most fun mechanic from a single class and adding something similar to everyone else. 

 

What we're getting is not a rework though (not even for Warrior and Zerker), but rather a balance patch - that doesn't even balance anything - and this is a supposition of what a real rework for the classes would look like. It almost certainly doesn't help that PA is getting either Selfish Feedback (My ideas are the best and everyone else is sh) or negative comments that are just plain hurtful to read.
