Replaceable Low Priority Base Skills

Icon Name Description
Heavy Strike Powerfully attack enemies in front of you.
Meditation Consume HP to gain WP.
Frenzied Dash Dashes into enemies in front of you by instilling the power of the Black Spirit in yourself. Can use 3 times in a row.
Sideways Cut Slashes enemies while quickly moving left and right.
Charging Slash Combo attack on an enemy after dashing forward.
War Cry Beat your shield to draw the attention of enemies.
Hilt Smash Counter attack that can be used while guarding. A successful Hilt Smash will fully restore Stamina.
Shield Counter Can use Shield Counter while on Guard.
Furious Blow Three successful blocks will generate special energy. The energy can be used to attack enemies.
Shield Push Push enemies away from you with your shield.

 

BDO is the only MMO that captures the fantasy of this RPG class. Some games put him on tank duty or worse turn him into a shouting frontline which supplies bonuses, heals, and cleanses to allies. The skill Reckless Blow delivers the ultimate hack and slash attack swinging a massive hunk of metal. Players are rewarded for executing multiple well-timed combinations. We do this to overcome the punishing animations that locks our characters in place which limits the offensive damage we can dole out. However, some Pre-Awakening skills could use some serious work or be completely substituted to reimagine a sword and shield class.

 

I think at least three new skills would accomplish this goal. (1) An aerial down smash to close in on distant targets with a high jump and vertical downward thrust attack. In BDO Mobile, the skill Ground Smash has an invincible high jump forward smash and the PC version is a grounded stationary attack. The Striker class has a similar interaction with Knee Hammer into Rage Hammer. The Valkyrie class has Sanctitas de Enslar. Warriors cannot plunge into mobs from higher places without triggering the falling animation so this technique could activate to get around it. (2) A shield slide is a follow up skill that uses the momentum gathered from Charging Thrust to immediately skate on slopes. The path with less friction such as snow and sand will increase movement speed. We depend on strange combos to chase players so here is an intuitive skill. (3+) A proper chain attack with multiple flows and keys alternating between sword and shield starting with the shield charge, then sword lunges, winding up to a finishing sword spin attack which uppercuts targets. I was inspired by Striker's Adamantine and Crimson Fang chain attacks. (4) The Rabam Skill Frenzied Spear has an alternate animation exclusive to Succession Warriors. For all intents and purposes, the tossed frenzied spear is replaced with an intense shield throw that is then fetched with a similar charge.

I'd rather see them (and it's far more likely anyways) revamp the useless skill rather than remove and replace them. I don't trust the new skills they'd create to not be clunky or weird like dusk slash.

 

Heavy Strike - Is fine, useless but fine. They could maybe make the Ultimate version better since 40 skill points to make a useless unprotected skill recover 0.1%HP per hit is kind of a slap in the face. They can't properly buff this skill without it making the gap between Awk warrior and succ warrior even bigger.

 

Meditation - I proposed awhile back should be changed into a stationary self PA. A regular one would be fine but I even thought they could reverse the HP/WP interraction so it burns HP but regens WP but you stay stationary and have Super Armor +999DP or +40% DR.

 

Frenzied Dash - I think should be turned into Warrior's engafe/disengage skill. It should keep it's high 22 second cooldown but be given SA, given a stamina cost of 500 (I even originally suggested 1k) and you do all 3 charges even without enemy collision.

 

Sideways Cut - Was iframe in beta if I remember correctly. The skill is fine. It'd be cool if it was FG or something with maybe 5 second cooldown for repositioning purpose but I'd rather they make small and basic changes to Warrior than give him unnecesary buffs and break him. An animation speed increase could also be nice on this skill.

 

Charging Slash - Can't even be used anymore because of overlap with headchase input. It can be used for a little back slash from block but the damage is low and the skill is unprotected so this is maybe warrior's most dead skill. I thought it'd have been cool if for succ they made this skill move you quickly forward and do a slash with float and give the skill FG. Sort of like a preawakened Heaven's Cleave with FG but faster. They can't really do much with this skill at the moment though. (Actually they maybe could, if they buffed this skill somehow it would really only buff succ warrior)

 

War Cry - They should make this skill give +20AP to self and allies or something. Really they should just turn this skill into any sort of self + ally buff. This skill isn't viable at all to use since your opponent has to stand relatively close to you, they have to stand still-ish, they can't be in forward guard or iframe, and this debuff won't stack with any non-addon DP debuff. This skill is only for insulting enemies at this point.

 

Hilt Smash, Shield Counter, Furious Blow - These skills are dead too. Personally I can only see them reviving one of them, basically the issue with them all is first, they need to be able to be given like a CD of 10-15 seconds and be able to be hotbarred since their input overlaps with other skills and that'll get you killed. Secondly they would need to have Forward Guard at least to be at all usable. SA would be ideal but also more OP. The other thing is they should either remove the Hits Taken requirement or make it so when you have hits saved it shows a display since it is quite unclear when you have enough hits saved/charged.

 

Shield Push - Dead skill. They'd have to give it SA or dramatically increase the movement distance + maybe add FG for anyone to use it. That's whatever though.

 

You also didn't mention Shield Strike in this list which has long been dead dead. It needs to be able to be hotbarred for succ and awak. I don't think they should buff it though since that'd again be a slap in the face to succ warriors.

 

The other thing you didn't mention was Rabams/Skill Enhancements. Basically the only rabam warrior has that is actually good is Frenzied Spear for the ranged CC and movement. Shield tide is taken over Shield Assualt because at least Shield tide moves you forward a foot or two rather than inches and gives SA for the first half second. Shield tide should be SA on both hits and have it's CD decreased from 13 seconds to maybe 8. Dusk Slash should be SA, Counter Slash should have Float, Seismic Strike needs either more damage or Bound on hit to be relevant at all, Shield Assualt probably needs full SA and CC to be relevant. Rabam spear is good but it would be nice if they made it so you'd dash right after throwing the spear regardless if it hit the opponent since it can be weird with hitboxes and sometimes you'll hit a target but won't move.

 

Last thing is Charging thrust desperately needs to have the Kick at the end removed and collision with enemies and allies being removed would be a great thing. It should also be full Foward Guard

Warrior at current time. Can already half combo kill  most players at same gearscore. Warrior does not need any AP buffs. All that would do is make Warrior be able just to just kill players at same gearscore with only one or two ablities.

 

Warrior doesn't need more protections. At current the only thing that can counter a good warrior is grab. Because of how protected and extremely fast Warrior is. Just go fight a good Warrior and you'll see how that class is not struggling against almost all of the other classes.

 

I don't think classes like Warrior should recieve any buffs while classes like Witch and Ranger are much worst off. I think Warrior is balanced in the hands of the average players. But in the hands of players who can have Warrior do  more than 40 ablities in one minute. And go from just within render distances to having you on your back in less than a second., than kill in the next Warrior is still flatout too strong in those players hands to the point it'll outclass all but the most tanky classes without any chance to counterplay it.

 

Warrior and a lot of the other classes could use some PvE damage increases tho. Warrior at current is a above average class. That are far more classes that worst off than Warrior.

If you think Warrior is lacking in PvP than you suck and should just get good on it. Because I see quite a few people in Battle Arena and Seasonal PvP channel. That make warrior warp at light speed, close to no breaks in it's super armor, and able to consistantly delete almost every class and spec in the game in less than 2 seconds after desync grab from across the map.
