Negative Karma Question

For argument's sake, lets say that crystal breakage and gear downgrades were removed for negative Karma players what would be some alternative deterants?

Snipped from a reply of mine on a long other post, rather than veering off topic over there I am making a new post for the discussion.

Alternatives to crystal breakages and ger downgrades are as follows, feel free to add any more.

"Jail for X time with no escape"

"Extended Death timers"  The more negative in karma you are the longer you have to stay dead.

"Stat reduction for X amount of time after getting killed"

"Random teleportation, not just within region but globally"  Right now if you die while red you revive at a random node within 2,000 range.

"Content Lockout", make it so Karma is account wide and you cannot use any storages or CM unless you are using those storages/vendors/CM inside of Miquuin or Kuit island unless at night.  In case you do not know, while it is flagged night time Red players can go into a "safe zone" and be unattackable by other players already, this can be extended to the NPCs, they are unable to be interacted with unless it is night time.

There are many many other things that can be done without threatening the lost of a year + of progress.

For context I have been red for the past 7 years, I doubt that will change.  There is almost never a time where my guild has less than 15 decs against us, which we actually like because it means that we do not break crystals or lightstones the majority of the time.  We have quite a few pirates as well.  I can tell you that negative Naval Karma is great for us because it means almost zero penalties.  

Like I said for argument's sake what if Crystal Breakage and Gear downgrades were removed from negative land karma, what would you do differently?

Lol.  I don't know why the penalties should be different or lower.  HOw about a 2 hour stay in Muquin so that others can be free from getting killed?  how about equipment downgrades to deter needlessly killing people?

I have a suggestion.

Lose 10 max durability, 5 if branded, on accessories, gear, and alchemy stone on 1-5 items when dying while red to PvP or PvE.   After 29 deaths, or 58 if everything is branded and 5 items got damaged every time, your gear would be all fully broken and needing a blacksmith to repair it.  Fully repairing 6 accessories, 7 gear slots, and a Vell would require 1450 mem frags.  1450 mem frags without artisains would be 4b-6b depending on mem frag prices.

Max durability on crystals for deaths to red players in PvP or PvE would be what I would do.
