I just finished 1 Upgrade on my Blackstar Gloves. and let me tell you its 100% not worth it.
At the start, I planned to make a full set but luckily I tried it all with just one piece and god damn I'm happy I didn't commit with the other armor.
If you didn't grind ronaros for pot piece in recent time, each obsidian upgrade will cost you about 2.4b in raw silver alone.
By the time you grinded 400 mats, you need for the upgrade, you pretty much could just grind anywhere and buy the caphras and a PEN armor to surpass BS stats.
As a bonus, everything locked behind highly contested orc camp same goes for acc upgrades. Why? I don't know makes no sense to me.
You either grind orcs or have a 3 man and go castle ruins and fight 3v3 from time to time cuz there is literally ONE reasonable spot in castle ruins.
Devs gotta rework that stuff, Blackstar supposed to be an early entry for newer players into end gear. Instead, it is just a newb trap.
Whenever YOU the reader feel " damn I will get instant bracket with that TET BS" don't do it! Buy PEN weapon for same price and caphras it, or 4-6b more expensive armor and caphras it later. It will be worth it in the end.

Yeah, it's already a know fact that it ain't worth it, it only requires like a calculator, or some basic brain capacity to find it out.

IDK what the idea behind this stupid unthought out mechanic was. I instantly saw this mechanic as pointless the second they said you can only upgrade Tri or Tet Black star armor with this mechanic. Like wtf why? If you could upgrade PEN blackstar armors this would of been worth doing, but tet, or tri nope insteadly a waste silver, espically sense we now have more dead god gear coming out around the corner some time this year.
Just another perfect example of PA throwing in pointless features and seeing if will stick to the wall of success with out any thought put into how to make it succeed.

Yeah, all they would've needed to do is enabling chapras for BS, literately 5minute work, but they instead added loot of pointless clutter items and redundant duplicate items with the only real purpose is to be vendored...

I have 2 x TET Distortions and 4 x Obsidian Blackstar armor, currently 289AP and 350DP (28 Monster Damager Reduction extra from BS bonuses) and doing all 280AP Elvia content with ease.
If you are only interested in PVE and not PVP then BS armor is worth it as you can do end game content on very low budget compared to boss gear + caphras. So yeah, totally worth it IMO.

Geting TET BS is a low budget yet effective PvE gear true.
However on better spots, you need to PvP constantly.
Also you already need to be available to grind Elvira before having the obsidian enchaments(since they drop there), and if you can do it without obsidian enchaments, then you might aswell sell those matts instead...

Ya you could also just get PEN BS armor. If this system was an alternative to get PEN BS armor without the aids of having to enchance it or spend 30-40B for a PEN BS piece it would be worth it as well. But your literally just throwing Silver away in the long run here nothing more. If that what you want to do go a head, but long term it a waste of silver to not just vendor this trash item. An you won't be seeing a need or use for these boosted stats on your TET BS gear ever, sense you'll need full PEN BS gear to grind the 300 AP zones not some shitty TET versions with a few small stat increases.
