Kinda hard to recommend or encourage someone to play a dying game lol but welcome back?
why are you so salty?
Lemme see, why the game is dying...
2 weeks of +50% drop rate and life skill buff
2 weeks of AFK fishing
2 weeks of useless pointless Dungeon (lol)
2 months of killing 2000 mobs for "free" PEN acc.
Mansion content = Fail
Corsair Awakening is a big joke lol, it's actually worse than Kuno tossing around a big chakram.
The only good new content for BDO this year is the reskinned "Elvia"Grind zones lol and some QOL stuff.
I'm on a guild with 100 ppl on it and more than half are offline for more than 30+ days.
People are tired of grinding at Red Orcs/Stars End/Turos grinding in a circle for months.
Infinite HP/MP Potions is not content lol.
You used to be able to grind for a bit and PVP decently at RBF Velia 4, but now you need Full PEN Fallen God Armor, OP classes and 300+ FPS to even PVP in there.
Pretty sure BDO Dev's are purposely delaying all the "big content updates" till FFXIV/GW2 Expansion launches and New World and other MMO launches around November this year.

Nice wall of fantasy.
A simple glance at steam charts allows anybody to witness BDO playerbase's stability since its introduction on Steam years ago.

Fair enough, however once someone actually play BDO. And find out at least 80% of the playerbase is always using it's AFK content. And not actually actively playing or interacting with others. People tends to feel baited. So it's best to let people know ahead of time. Unlike other MMOs that kick players inactive for 15 to 30 minutes. A good portion of the playerbase is not even focus on the game.
Honest question for you tho. What do you think BDO's NA/EU steamchats would look like, if BDO kicked players off for being inactive for more than 30 minutes?
If all of this is true, why do you still play then?
I mostly spend my time...
AFK Processing wood/Ores
AFK Gather river water
AFK Fishing
Do Daily 2000 kills for Free Pen
Collect Daily rewards
BSA Rolls
Repeat.
None of these are fun. Minimizing BDO is the best part since i get to play a real game lol.

I used to play your beloved fast-food western games. Needless to say after joining a pick up group in ESO for the nth time and witnessing "players" not even saying a single word through the entire "content" I mean dungeon for the nth time, I'd rather play games where not interacting with others is at least openly acceptable and a willingfull choice.
In ESO and such you feel like a litteral NPC interacting with others NPC. That is is for the "most popular" content rofl. Let's mention the unpleasant truth about square miles of empty areas because people have fast-fooded their way through it and have no business coming back there. But yeah superior games with rich content and active playerbase rofl.
Lastly, you seem to have a personal beef with games fitting with your RL schedules and commitment, ever heard of Anarchy Online ?
This is one of the oldest yet still running MMO to date and there is no AFK timer for obivous gameplay mechanics reasons such as player shops or the ability to send tells to others without seeing them erased by your beloved AFK timer.

Sophism 101 : when faced with real numbers, base your argumentation on a created number.
Even players who afk do it because it brings something for their active playtimes ; it's even a good commercial move to create "kois events" on common holiday times because it keeps players "connected" somehow to the game and let them make some benefits.
If you afk without such a goal in mind, for sure you should stop the game completely... But that is your personal problem, not a game flaw.
For OP, yes, you should try again, it has many things to do, a good combat system, plenty of various objectives you can set for yourself.
However :
- take your time and don't set unreasonable goals for your playstyle and playtime. You're not forced to compete with veterans right from the start.
- don't spend money before you're 100% sure to feel good in the game
- I'd strongly suggest to not spend any real money on anything linked to this game RNG (cron melting, artisan's memory, horse skills change, pets exchange and so on.). Same goes for temporary buffs, the more you use them, the more you may see them as "mandatory" and be likely to spend even more money on it. Again, take your time.
- TALK! There are plenty of nice players if you take the time to know them. Moreover, you may feel overwhelmed by the game and you may need good advices.
- Unless you really want to be a competitive player and you have the time and dedication to do it, avoid the "100% optimal" state of mind : if you feel good grinding somewhere, or doing something the way you like, don't try to "over optimize". You'll also meet many players telling you to grind there, do this lifeskill with this method, but such hints often create a increased competition, potentially leading to conflicts and new players are less likely to stand their ground in these conflicts.
In short, a free suboptimal spot is often better than a heavily contested optimal spot.
