A new-ish player's opinion/concern/rant on catch up mechanics in this game

So you're taking your bias about the game as an argument. Sure.
If a 1-year players can go compete with a 5-year veteran, it either means that the player is really good and dedicated, or the veteran is lazy. Or a mix of both.
If you're a real dedicated veteran, you should still be a step ahead, no matter what catch-up mechanics they put, and even with the new system you have a reaaaal long way to go before you get close to hard cap.
If you wanted to be consistent, you should complain about : any gift they made about enhancement (cron, memories, FS scrolls and so on), cron melting, oasis gear, Tuvala, seasons, central market, suppressed gear...
Why not blaming any QoL simplifying your past progression?...
... Or you can be realistic, and admit that the game can't evolve without changing. And changes may look bad at first glance.

That's your opinion here. No game is perfect, and balancing many classes in pve/pvp/1vs1/mass fight is not easy, not to mention that perfect balance is not possible in this kind of game anyway. You may be disappointed but I do not share your pessimism.

No game is perfect that is true, but in bdo it's not some classes preforming +-5% compared to rest....
Also it's only PA's fault that they mass released broken classes one after a another for easy cash. This game would befine with half the classes we have, heck it would be better.

@CatDK You're wasting breath on Sad a la Sad. He hasn't apparently been playing long enough to see how deeply the hole PA has dug when it comes to "balancing" & how they just keep digging. Leave it up to Sad a la Sad to simp for PA like he always does though... in his eyes they can do no wrong... well until the day PA finally does him so anyway...

It seems like you hate the game. Imo it seems like a lot of you hate the game. So I have a genuine question because I've seen a few videos and read a few comments here on the forums. If you guys dislike it so much, why continue to play? When I don't like things, I find new things.

Sure, sure... I've seen many players like you complaining about class balance, even when they were playing good class, because they didn't realize that they were not using the classes when they could really shine....
... If it was not a simple PEBKAC situation. See what I mean? ^^
