It's time to get rid of unique first names, seriously

Just why is this still a thing? If you want 12million players to play, prepare the game to support 12 million unique first and last names lol.
I should be able to create Lahn_Mower {FamilyName} or Guardian_Leviosa {FamilyName} etc... It's just silly to force both as unique.
So why can't we in 2021? ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Absolutely not. This devalues character names as a whole. That would probably be the end of my BDO adventure tbh

Yeah. The family name already uniquely identifies you, so having the character name be unique really doesn't make sense and just makes it harder to come up with character names. However, as I understand it, it's an implementation detail from early on that they've never fixed. I'm sure that they could fix it with enough effort, but it wouldn't surprise me if it would be far more effort than they want to go to.
