Zzzzzzzzzz gathering 2K21
They don't need to address the shortage. If the meals sell, players will make them.
That logic is flawed. People have always been cooking because it was profitable. Since grinding was buffed by 300-400%, lifeskill including cooking has just fallen so much behind, that many stopped lifeskill entirely and got rid of all manos.
Or are you saying, currently "meals dont sell" and that's why we need to wait? The stuff raised so much in price now, there wouldnt be a better time to sell it as right now.

Hep... YOUR logic is flawed, players are doing what they want. There are dedicated lifeskillers who will choose to make meals no matter how much they could do with grinding.
ah i dont give a shit anymore, with new continent comes better meal I CALLED IT FIRST
Meals are sold out and heavily ordered right now, for several reasons:
1 - cron meals are low price right now, and players found out Oasis is ending. This makes everyone want to buy meals immediately, in bulk, as a speculative investment and also for personal hoarding.
2 - cron supply is low right now, because cron prices have been low for so long, that suppleirs have stopped producing them. Now that we know Oasis is ending, it will take a little bit of time for cooks to start up their production to meet the new demand again.
3 - prices increasing means incentives to produce increase.
The meal shortage is a VERY temporary shortage. It will be very profitable to churn these meals out in large quantities. You won't need to make them by yourself. Just wait a while, the supply will resolve.
Wait oasis ended? Oh shitt~
I don't believe the cost is an issue, it is the wait time for a player to purchase one with pearls, and sell it in the CM. The compass only costs 50 cents and lasts for 2 hours. I don't even see the compass listed on the CM, but looking at the dyes that sell for 50 cents, most are listed at 22.4 million silver.
I don't think that the pearl compasses are listable on the CM. What's listable on the CM is Part for Explorer's Compass, which is used to make a 3-day compass. They drop in some of the Valencia zones, and while the demand for them is about to go up, the fact that the Valencia zones were recently buffed means that their supply has effectively been buffed as players grind there more. Of course, it's an open question how long it will generally take to get the compass parts if you pre-order them, and you're definitely not going to be able to get them as easily as the Oasis compass, but they should be obtainable.
Alternatively, you can buy a 7-day sealed compass for 400 crow coins, though that obviously requires that you do enough sea content to have the crow coins.
In most cases, I expect that players will just need to learn to navigate the desert without a compass. And if you don't need to get to a very specific location on the map for a quest, then it's really not very hard - even less so if they've used a compass to explore the area previously.

It ends on the 24th. We're getting additional oasis dream chests every day in the interim.
