I feel like this is all focused more on the "victim"

But what if you get griefed by a low gs player... You can flag to kill them but they wont bugger off (karmabombing), then what?

Honestly such things need to be adressed as well, not just for the lower gs to be protected from pvpers...

TBH, personally, I get by with the current system.  Not to say it cannot be improved or made more fun (like a functional, non-exploitable Bounty System), but this concern / suggestions comes because of all the posts I read of players asking for fully fledged PVE servers in BDO.  I read in those posts, players complaining about the fact other players can kill them.  That's really the only concern, being killed by another in a video game.  But I can see how in some scenarios, that it can be quite toxic.  Though, I personally know that the Open World in BDO is supposed to entail "risks", like being PK'd, since I've played this game for about 4 years, but it seems many players -- mostly new players, low-geared players, or PVP-averse players -- do not like this aspect of the game.  And I can see why.  Being killed while AFK horse riding is pretty toxic for a new player.

So am trying to find good solutions that cater to these concerns, without splitting BDO into two different versions of the game which would also split the community into groups.  I'm just glad this thread wasn't bombed by trolls yet, thanks for your reply as well as your compliment @Mecaiah.

Also, about being griefed by a low GS player, it's happened to me multiple times.  I am grinding a rotaiton in peace, alone, not bothering a soul.  In comes a low GS player who starts hitting mobs in the rotation I'm occupying.  I know they are low GS because they take forever to kill the mobs.  Not wanting to lower my Karma and thinking, hey, maybe this person is new and doesn't know the rotation layout, let me go talk to them a bit.  I go up, right next to their toon and say, "Hey OwO I'm grinding this rotation!  Mind if I let you know when I'm done?"  We all know that solo grind spots, like Star's End, are designed to be solo, groupng or sharing mobs in SOLO spots results in reduced income, reduced chance of rare drop (the reason we grind SE), and reduced skill EXP and combat EXP.  The perosn literally ignores any verbal communication, even after repeated attempts at getting their attention.  It's as if I don't exist to them.  Understandably, this will annoy most players, myself included.  I have a loot scroll running, limited time to play, and was enjoying my peaceful, non-disturbance grind sesh.  Now it's ruined by this person who just barges in!

What do most players do in this situation?  Well, understandably (unless you're a bigot), it causes frustration.  When you're trying to be nice and some person barges into the occupied rotation as if they own it.  I seriously wonder if they also barge into public restroom stalls IRL?  No one owns a spot, and no one owns a public restroom stall -- but you don't barge in a public toilet when someone is taking a dump (occupying it)!!

The only options I am left with are unfavorable = PK them and lose Karma for it or leave.  Both options screw players over, except, unlike people who PK with impunity, low GS / toxic karmabombing has literally zero consequence at all.

Sorry this is long.  I fear that many players do not see this side of the story.  I handled these situations just fine -- luckily, I have IRL friends who play as Reds, and love to spawn camp actual karmabombers.  The true Robin Hoods of BDO, living a life of crime to help those in injustice!!!  But I fear for those players who do not have the luxury of Red friends on speed dail.  For them, they will likely go Red because of the frustration caused by an instigator, and could possibly lose crystals and EXP due to someone being toxic to them in the first place.

Karma System sucks, PA.  FIX IT.  (sorry so harsh)

No new ideas? Come on, I'm sure that this community can have some impressive suggestions!

(and some users will see that one good constructive topic is better than spamming nonsense on several topics.) ;)

With bounty system people are going to grief even harder because killing someone would not be an option, so feeding to mobs / grinding over you would be new standard.

If I remember well, feeding to mobs will not be an option either with the infamy system.

But the new wardec system will also allow declaration against any guild.

It will become easy to spot pve griefers : being guildless will be the first hint.

So... How could it be solved?

Long story short here... Having played other MMOs, the first servers that die are those with free PvP.
There's a reason why there are so many normal servers and only a few Arsha, not enough players enjoy free PvP.

Some here suggest that we should penalize the person who got griefed (griefed in this context means the guy who was unjustly attacked by a different player). I'm sure there are those who like that but I bet that if there was a poll, the vast majority would disapprove of such a measure.
I don't see anything positive coming from laxer PvP penalties because doing so will get people to quit and when the "casuals" or "PvEers" go, the PvPers will soon follow as the player base gets diminished and there are no easy targets to kill anymore. Funds will run dry as people leave resulting in less new content.

That said, if there are a lot of players who desire a different ruleset for PvP then I'm all for there being different servers for those players (like an Arsha 2nd edition).

You can't really reduce the proposals here as a simple thing like "laxer pvp penalties" and the one killed is not necessarily the innocent one here, so what would you suggest in a pvpve setting?

The best way to kill a turn a decently populated P2W KMMO into just another basic low populated P2W KMMO. Is to punish the ones who is getting PK griefed and making them pay for it.

This is almost like my suggestion a year ago. Suggesting that these Devs use Eve Online's crime and punishment system. Since they now have the rights to Eve Online.

I personally think that lvl 58/239AP and lower areas should be High Security areas. Which if you PK someone in these areas you get a 30 minute global criminal timer. If you die by player or NPCs with this global criminal timer some of your gear lose enhancement levels.

240 AP to 260 AP areas should be consider to be Low Security areas. Which if you PK someone here you just get a suspect timer for 15 mintues and lose some Karma. The karma lost will be a flat rate no matter the gear difference. (2 PKs in this 15 minutes will give put you negative karma.) (Same rules apply to negative karma that applies at current.)

Any areas that are higher than 260 AP should be consider to be No Security areas. Which are basically anarchy. ( Meaning you are are free to kill who ever you want in these areas and not be punished for it.)

Anytime attacked by a player. You will receive a PvP active buff for 20 seconds. (Any deaths while PvP buff is active and not under a global criminal timer will be not be treated as PvE death.)

Ok now for the other side of the pond. If you die in a High Security area. You will be able to use tears to spawn on spot.

If you die in a Low Security area. You will be able to spawn back at the node for 3 additional times. After that you will be forced to spawn back at nearest town.

If you die in a No Security area. You will be forced to spawn back at nearest capital.

Tears will not prevent you from following the respawn rules. They will only stop you from losing Exp.

We can go from here.

Sounds interesting and I think I can see what you're trying to get at.  Basically, giving low-level areas a security system.  Issue I see is, then in these high security areas, no PvP can happen, whatsoever, without severe punishment -- even for players that are equally leveled and geared.  So this negatively affects new players in this way as well, since, the punishment for PvP is so severe in these areas.

For instance, you have 2 level 58/230 AP players grinding in the same area and come into conflict with one another.  No one wants to leave the spot, so they duke it out.  The winner of the fight will then have this 30 minute criminal timer you speak of, so this level 58/230 AP player will be able to be freely attacked by anyone, including those who are level 64/310 AP.

Also, 260+ AP areas are basically like Arsha, accoridng to your suggestion.  So what if a low gear player is simply riding their horse through, say, an Elvia grindzone?  They can be attacked and killed, no penalty to the killer.

Honestly, I think what we have right now might be the necessary evil we need.  Karma, as it stands, already deters Open World PvP.  The only reason people PK'ing others, in my experiences, is when someone steps into someone else's claimed rotation.  Other than that, flagging is already super rare on normal channel.  OW PvP happens over grind spot conflicts and GvG, that's about it nowadays.

I can tell you put some thought into this, and it sounds interesting.  More hashing out needed, but it's a start.

Personally, I think, if we introduced a Vendetta System -- a system where individual players could "dec" on other individual players (with limits, of course), that could solve a lot of toxic open world encounters.

A big problem I have is when a guildless player comes into the rotation I've been grinding, hits the mobs, and doesn't communicate at all, despite numerous cordial requests to leave, or even  DFS request.  Who, after getting PK'd after pushing their weight around and being rude like that, come back over and over.  There's literally NOTHING players can do in a situation like this, when encountered by a guildless player.  Besides bend over and take it.
