Fair idea, love it to happen myself but i can’t see PA doing it why?
Its extra maintenance time and cost. Each downtime they would have to run a check on all preorders and all account activity for them orders. This would be an unknown length of time each check and could lead to extra downtime which represent possible real world sale, and it may also have a notable cost in resources.

Remember- they don’t even waste resources letting your farms grow unless you are logged in (if I remember correctly)

So no, they won’t do it unless a very large number of the player base complained, wich they won’t.

Addition; (hope i got this right, very early in the am :P)

Maybe a solution PA could look at, Meeting us half way;

When an item is at the top bracket, that bracket should have 2 hidden sections, one is a priority section.

If there are people in the priority section, a recipient is picked from that section before the second section.

You are put in the priority section if you have logged into your account and the market place after maintenance, all other preorder are automatically put into the none priority section after maintenance *1

This would give active player priority over inactive or low activity player without the need to check every account (check on activity only) and without removing and preorders

*1)

The secontions could be generated 2 ways.

One) All preorder are by default none priority and this is set at maintenance, this takes time/resources. When a player logs in to the market, there is a query sent to all preorders they have and orders are moved to the priority section (this can be a low priority call on the servers).

Two) At point of sale. Rather than simply randomly selecting a recipient from a capped list, there is first one query (this may require extra data).

Split the lists using 2 dates, *last maintenance - an amount of days*, to create a bracket and time pasted (Current date). Every time there is a maintenance, that date is moved forward a week (by the query). So if it was last maintenance +3 weeks, you can have a priory bracket of up to on month of current date.

This stil means checking all preorders account at point of sale, im sure their is a way around that too, but one), its not my job, two) its to early :P

Rather, if an item has been on Preorder and never gotten out of preorder for more than 30 days raise it by 1 unit, if the price is 95 and the unit increment is 1 make the max price now 96, if it's 995 and the increment is 5 make the cap 1000, 9950 and the increment is 50 make the new max 10,000... 95,000,000 and it changes by 500.000 new max is 95,500,000 and so on This way even if the price is 95,000,000,000 and there are 1,000 pre orders all of them not logged on for a year, the price can go up to 95,500,000,000 and anyone active can post a new request for the slightly higher price.  No need to ever cancel out the preorders because anyone who really wants an item can just change their bid.

This would actually be the best suggestion!

It's too slow to be abused, it gives active players a better chance to win a specific item preorder, and the higher price encourages sellers to sell their item.

The current market for Flame of Despair is a total joke.

Placed a preorder around a year ago, and it still didn't go through.

Seems like a good suggestion but PA has set their caps for 'reasons', it’s not over look that they don’t keep incrementing. Flames hit their cap and PA does not want it to go higher (I think it's too low, 600m, so no one is interesting it farming the item, need updating).

So if I have understudy correct, that is a suggestion PA is not interested it :(

flame pitty pieces sell for 5m, need 100, thats 500mill without having to take tax. Sell a flame to the market? 600m - 30% if you have VP,is it?, 600x0.7 =420mill for a sale, so if that correct; If you get the pitty pieces, making them into a flame to sell loses you 80m (vs 500m).

Someone check the math, im so sleepy today :P

... 30% if you have VP,is it?, ...

35% is subtracted regardless whether you have a value pack or not.

However, VP gives you +30% back on silver collection.

This is 30% of the remaining profit, not the initial price:

Let's say you sell a flame for 600.000.000 on the market:

600.000.000 - 35% = 390.000.000 profit (no value pack)

390.000.000 + 30% = 507.000.000 profit (with value pack)

Conclusion: Selling an item on the marketplace while you have an active value pack gives a total of (100-35%)+30%=84.5% of your sale price.
