Lately I have been reporting a lot of spam threads, so how does it happen for topics that seem normal, innocent threads to become spam? Easy. The spammers pretend to be players asking legitimate questions then later on, perhaps weeks after the fact they edit their original post and then add their linkfarm url.

[What We as Members can do]

What we can do is observe these threads and report as spam whenever we encounter them. I think that goes without saying, less spam = happier and safer place. 

Make sure that you never click on URLs and if you do want to click on a URL because it appears to be a fansite that you recognize, hover over the URL and see where it leads. If you're on mobile, holding on the URL will give you more information about the link.

These are suggestions on what I think might be helpful for the forums and safety of other players....

(1) I think a few things can be done to help remedy this. #1. Make it so URLs don't have Titles in them except for GM/CM posts. This will prevent fraudulent URLs (masked).

(2) All posts can be submitted for evaluation to moderators when a URL is added to a thread. If that is too taxing for the mods, then perhaps if a URL is added when a post is edited?

(3) Lock the forums for paid users only. This won't completely eliminate spam, but it will prevent the bulk of it. It'll also prevent randoms from throwing unnecessary shade at players / the game

None of this would be a problem if we just had the ability to ignore/block problematic forum accounts.  Trolls could come in spam up the place, block one bot and all those spam posts go away.

Ignore, means that I would never see another post from ignored user, and when it comes to a reply in a thread I would see "ignored user's post, click here to view"

Block means that the user I have blocked would see something along the lines of "This user has blocked communications from you, no text displayed"

Problem solved.

It does not help, if they ignor the reports like they do with this spam Topic in the german section for over a week and it is not even a Spam Topic which tries to hide it.

The post was there for more then a week.

I reported it many times.

a few hours after it was mentioned here it's gone.

Conclusion: they don't care whats going on in the german section as long as it stays there.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion, I've moderated many sites before and sometimes these things slip by. If none of them ever get removed then yeah, something is up. Maybe it's the software or maybe they really don't pay attention IDK lol But I'm guessing it slipped through the cracks. If you want to see an unmoderated forum, go to Xiaomi's forums. I went there to ask how to fix my robot and decided not to post. It was bad, like there has never been a post deleted kind of bad. :P

The fact that they deleted it after seeing it in this thread (presumably) means that they didn't notice the report or the report didn't go through. Maybe they don't have german speaking staff to know outside of e-mail support xD

I still see posters editing their post and posting spam directly. Just bumping this in case it might be helpful.

I sometimes am fixing my own typos when I see them. That's why I am editing. :)
