- improve rewards

This idea is not very innovative, but it is straightforward. RBF should offer better rewards than it currently does, to encourage more players to spend time there. Black Desert is fundamentally a game about progress, and so players will, within reason, try to optimize their time spent for progress. That's not to say players never do non-profitable activities, but there is a range that is acceptable. If RBF had increased rewards we might see many more players enter, and the more the merrier, right?  What if RBF averaged out to a value of 100m silver per hour? Or even 200? It still doesn't compare even to basic PvE activity. Throw us a bone, please. 

 

- remove the unique HP DR relationship in RBF

Currently, RBF applies bonus damage reduction to players with lower HP. This is nonsensical; this kind of gameplay rule does not occur elsewhere in the game.   

  

- respawn without loading screen
Currently, fort & castle defenders in node wars can respawn at their fort without a load screen if they die close enough to their fort. I propose the same mechanic applied to RBF. The RBF map is surely not so complex that respawning requires reloading. 

 

- change queuing system  

Currently, there is a big list of all the RBF instances available, one row each, showing what the member count is and remaining time. I propose streamlining the queueing system and copying the modern trend of just a "find match" button, nothing more. Just dump me into RBF, please. 

 

- team size  

RBF scales up to about 30v30. In a pretty tight arena, 30v30 means ranged & aoe classes are gods. melee classes must be very clever to avoid poor positioning due to amount of AoEs and new combatants present around every corner. I would propose reducing this to 20v20 at most, and also automatically putting each team member in a platoon with each other so you can better see everyone's name and HP.  There are 20 people to a platoon, and having RBF organized around platoon versus platoon seems to be reasonable and consistent to me. 

  

- RBF match duration  

The end of an RBF lasts for indeterminate time, it seems random. Additionally, many people wait until a match has close to 10 minutes remaining before joining. Fix match length SOLIDLY at 15 minutes, no more no less.  Players can enter an ongoing match from the 15 minute mark until the 10 minute mark, and then new entries are prohibited for the final 10 minutes. 

  

- team rebalancing /shuffle at the 10 minute mark  

When only 10 minutes remain in the match, no further new players are allowed to join. This is a good time to take a quick intermission, examine who is contributing on which team, what the scores are, and shuffle the team for the sake of balance right at the 10 minute mark in hopes that a fair and close match occurs for the final 10 minutes.  

 

- match leaving penalties

When a match is one-sided, people start leaving the match. I propose that if you leave and RBF before it finishes, you be blocked from queuing for a new RBF for an hour.   

  

- at least one highly different gameplay mode  

I fondly remember World of Warcraft's 'Arathi Basin" where your two teams of 20 players each would battle across a map with multiple control points. Stand in the vicinity of the Mine, or the farm, or the blacksmith - the build up score for controlling the zone. Use your horse to speed from point to point. Defend points before the enemy seized control. Attack the points they did not properly defend because they were distracted while fighting on the road away from objectives. 

 

- meaningful variety

We have the choice of Seasonal RBF, Ghillie or No Ghillie RBF, and Castle Ruins or Garmoth RBF. First, because of the ghillie changes the ghillie RBF is highly unnecessary and is seldom ever used now. Second, Seasonal RBF could simply be replaced with a stat-capped RBF. Just as node wars & sieges use stat caps to balance things, you could have an RBF that enforces stat caps equivalent to Tuvala gear... without actually forcing you to make and gear a seasonal character to participate. People very seldom choose to enter Garmoth-RBF, and this has a waterfall effect so fewer garmoth RBFs ever start at all, and those that do rarely get many participants. If we had a queuing system where the map was decided for us, maybe put us in Garmoth 10% of the time and Castle Ruins 90% of the time, I don't know maybe that would be preferable.
