yeah, they won't ever enable linux support. theres actually a reason. they do use easy anti cheat, but thats more of a diversion than anything. they have another, custom, anticheat thats basically a more hardcore version of genshin impact's. its extremely shit at actually detecting cheats however its main purpose is just to silently collect user data. its just spyware essentially. its also the reason the game needs admin access, which by the way is the reason it doesn't work on linux; proton doesn't typically allow games to run as root, at least without something showing you whats what. the make changes to your pc dialogue is a lot more discreet, giving it root or superuser access however is not. basically everything in windows needs admin access so its not surprising, however on linux its more eybrow raising. hell, on windows you can't even see the process in task manager kernel level and all. linux distros typically allow easy access. oh also the devs are lazy too this is well known.
i forgot to include this, but if you uninstall the game sometimes the other anticheat stays on your system. so basically the only reliable way to get rid of it (without being a computer nut) is to reinstall windows completely. once they started pushing windows 11 i dropped windows entirely. turns out almost everything works on linux, what doesn't you can just use qemu. i like bdo, but not enough to use a vm for it. windows 10 is really bad native, and in a admittedly unsurprising twist running it in a vm actually improves its performance and stability. however, for a game which ends up with sessions easily passing the 72 hour mark with much of it being afk, and considering its the only thing in the vm just not worth it. i didn't even try bc of how obviously problematic it would be to have the vm hogging all those resources instead of say skyrim or payday 2 for while i wait during auto running..
