Right now:
- guilds with no currently held node can place a fort on any node. If they win, they take control of that node.

- guilds with a currently held castle can place a fort on any node. If they win, the node is liberated and no one will own the node.
- guilds with a currently held node can place a fort on any node ADJACENT to their currently held nodes. If they win, they take control of that node.

I propose allowing a 4th condition in addition to those 3 above:
- guilds with a currently held node can place a fort on ANY node ANYWHERE, regardless of the adjacency or non-adjacency of their currently held nodes. If they win, the node is liberated and no one will own the node.

Why am I asking this?

Node war guilds tend to organize, plan and schedule their fights. There are too many factors to consider when managing a guild - which members are on which schedules, which nights of the week are viable for a fight, and furthermore which OTHER guilds will be available for a fight on which nights of the week, and which of those guilds are comparable in strength to provide a fun fight, and furthermore which of those other guilds are either ready with no currently-held nodes or adjacently-held nodes so that they actually can place a fort at an agreed node to participate in a fight that is being planned.

We should de-couple the concept of currently held nodes with placing new forts to participate in new fights. I want a guild with forts in kamasylvia, to be able to place a new fort in Valencia to participate in a big fight over there, without needing to first plan to have their forts in Kamasylvia chopped down so that they are allowed to move.

We need to make connections between guilds easier. We need to remove barriers that prevent fights from happening.

Holding nodes is very cool. The new node war system is very cool, to see on the map how these different guilds are creating their own empires on the map. But, it is restrictive, and one simple change would alleviate so many problems!

If we allow guilds who currently own nodes, to place new forts in the same way that a castle guild can place new forts, to participate in fights anywhere in the world without restriction, then that would be a huge help to the node war community. We have numerous situations where a guild has multiple nodes controlled in one region like Mediah, and they cannot uproot and terminate their node empire easily, so they are reluctant to be invited to join a fight that is occurring in Valencia or Calpheon for example.

We should have the freedom to join fights anywhere, not only fights that are adjacent to what we control.

The castle-owning guilds are allowed to participate in node wars without taking control of new nodes, so this system used for castle-owners to still participate in node wars could be extended and added to node-owning guilds, too.

It is already challenging to balance every factor and every variable to ensure your guild is eligible to participate in good fights on different node war nights. The current region-locking system makes it difficult to manage. When trying to organize for example a 2v2 or a 3v3 guild battle in a node war, it is too limiting to think "ok we will invite the castle guilds, and then we will invite the landless guilds, and then we will pick a region and invite the guilds who own nodes in the region, and then when we have our attendees we will organize who will conquer each node adjacent to the node we will all choose to meet and fight in and hope nothing goes wrong ther" can't you see it is just a bit of a pain? Wouldn't it be far easier if we could just invite any guild tio participate in a ndoe war on any node, without all the limtiations and exceptions? Who cares who gets the node upon victory, just allow guilds to actually show up and fight.

I think part of the issue is a disconnect between how the node war system is designed and how players use it. It's designed to be like the boardgame Risk, where guilds will own land and defend or expand their own home territory. It is imagined that many attackers will be coming to take your land and prevent you from growing too large & wealthy. But the reality of how guilds seeking PvP want to use it, is oftentimes more like a recreational sports organization. We want to schedule meets/games with each other, like "let's meet on Navarne Steppe and battle there, on Thursday night." There are few un-planned wars, there are enough nodes for the guilds to all have some land and not often interfere with each other, and when there are unplanned fights they are often highly imbalanced - if a guild does not expect a battle on a certain night, then there is no way they can reasonably muster large attendance for defense, so they will just lose their node and say 'oh well' and move on. The restrictions make it difficult to actually meet for fun fair fights. So I repeat, unlock node war fort placement to different regions! Set us free! Let us join any fight we wish, anywhere we wish!
