Currently you have to gather 500 feathers and kill 3000 monster... the feathers will be done in pretty much a couple of minutes but the mobs take forever if you tan the monsters all the time. How about you switch the objectives around so that you have to gather 3000 feathers and kill 500 monster.
That would make the quest completely out of line with the other weekly quests.
You don't have to tan the animals after you get the 500 feathers, though you can choose it for the chance of more pity pieces. But if you just run around killing things, the 3000 goes by fairly quickly.
That would make the quest completely out of line with the other weekly quests.
And? This is a gathering treasure part so quest should be related to it.
Also this treasure part from skinning is the greatest idiocy that has ever been invented. Killing mobs is many times faster than skinning them and the chance of getting a part of the treasure or even a mini part of the treasure is almost zero. Mobs can be killed without any limit, skinning requires energy, and using 500 energy without a single mini part of the treasure is typical. With such a low ratio, I will collect 100 mini parts after a year. This is absurd compared to the fact that I collected other 100 mini-parts in 4-5 weeks playing only one hour a day.

But the way to get these pity pieces and the full one is already out of line with the other pieces, so why not?
Even though I really prefer to do it this way, I had the same reaction as Lirai at first.

I don't disagree with you.
My point is that the devs seem to have balanced the quests so that they take approximately the same amount of time no matter which one you pick. Sherekhan is 3k, Navarn is 3k plus some feathers, Ronaros is 3.5k and the others are all 4k.
Simply switching the requirements would make the quest a lot shorter than the others, because you will have your 3k feathers in the time it takes you to get through 500 birds even with miserable gathering. So if we want the gathering part to be more prominent, then it's going to have to be a lot more than 3k feathers. That's all I'm saying.
Personally, since this is the quest I'm doing right now, I ususally skin 500 birds and then just kill things for a bit, and either swap back to skinning or kill to the end depending on what else I have planned.
I dont know what PA's intended metric is, but it feels like the weekly quests take like an hour on a seasonal character- with some significant variance because of mobility imbalance.
But take whatever that intended time to complete is, figure out how many feathers can be gathered in that time frame and make that the weekly quest- that would feel more appropriate to me.
Currently skinning all 3k kills takes forever, but killing without skinning feels significantly grindier and less rewarding compared to other pot piece weeklies as there is no chance for drops
BUT
I cant help but wonder if this quest wasnt made this way with newer players in mind. For me with 400 energy and energy pots for days skinning energy isnt an issue.. but for a newer player with a 50 energy cap, tanning for an hour might seem like an absurd request and a major turn off..
that may be why the quest is the way it is, and there may be little hope for change in that case
