Since a few days ago, I noticed several three person squats camping key locations (way to Duvencrune, outside Heidel) and shooting down and attacking everyone who passes by, following/harassing them into pvp or just straight killing them if the person is afk.
What's the point of it? Did I miss something and PvP is now suddenly awesome?

But yeah, what cat said, boredom.  There are some favorite bottlenecks that these types like to hang out at.  If you want to up the fun a bit, stake out their stake out :)  They might join in.  Or maybe they will just run off.  

That...is not the meaning at all. But sure. :D I got another one "an eye for an eye makes the world go blind".

Anyway, my question got answered. People are bored, same as always.

They have been there before.  Most hang around the manor waiting for scraps.  I wonder if the new fast travel system ( The Magnus ) will spoil their fun next month?

Couple of things you can do against them:
- Simply ignore it. Don't give them the satisfaction they so desperately desire
- Switch channels. If they usually hang around specific channels, just find another one.

- Allow yourself to get killed on a lvl 50 gearless alt and watch them cry about karmabombing. Once they become negative karma, it's time to strike back on your gearlett character.

And report them for toxic behavior and disturbing to play.

We need many more reports and finally it will be calm, as in the Japanese version where there is a ban for such behavior.
