Allow us to palette swap our skill effects with some kind of mask or filter

Even if it was something like altering base, highlight, shadow colours, or like messing with filter effects, or applying a mask, could you please allow players to change their skill effects colours/palette to provide a whole new feel, or to better match their MH/Awakening skills.

For example, I personally can't stand the acidic yellows of Awakening Sage's kit and would love for more of the cosmic blues, purples and oranges to translate from his MH.

So could the palette on Awakening Sage allow for orange or blue lightning (base) with dark purple cloud effects (highlight) and a lighter purple aura (shadow/hue) to better match with the blues and purples of his MH? It could open up a lot of diversity for other classes too if they've avoided a class because it's not quite their vibe.

i personally like the idea. i do not however, see them implementing this in any way even though it would be used in the cash shop 100%. why? idk, i just dont personally see these devs doing anything that players request without them "coming up with the idea first" and then failing at it. I mean it sounds fun and nice until you realize you have to buy an rng dye for it, or have a 4th major value pack buff just for that specific feature.

cool idea, just wont happen sorry

Even if they attached specific colours to outfits it provides some freshness. One outfit that pulls the MH palette into awakening skills and one that pulls the awakening palette into the main hand skills.

They've done if before too, with one of Shais outfits, twinkle star I think?

I think Sorc got some altered effects for Halloween on one of her outfits too.

I fully support this idea, it's really a shame only Shai gets it (as usual, she gets all the gimmicks). I used to play another Korean grinder where your light skills could be purple, yellow, or red, and it was super cool to have this feature.

The main reason devs don't implement this is to make it easier in pvp for players to recognise enemy skills. Classes can color coded so you can tell right away who/what is attacking you. For pve though I think this would be an amazing feature, with only benefits and $$$ for PA, no drawbacks whatsoever (effects can be turned off anyway).

With regard to Sage specifically, I actually love his yellow lightning, plus we already have blue lightning for Wiz, Witch, Drakania, and purple lightning for Guardian. I would like to recolor Sage's succession skills though because I'm not a huge fan of the purple effects.

Objectively, and from a design perspective for cohesion, as main hand is made (or at least released) first, it would have made sense to pull at least some of the colours from main hand across into the awakening effects.

For example on lightning prison, where you have the light blue portal over head and the yellow lightning raining down, I'd probably have made the portal dark blue and the lightning more like the orange glyphs visible during riftchain.

Funnily enough mentioning guardian I actually think the yellow lightning would have been more cohesive with her orange/yellow fire on her awakening. They don't tend to care much about cohesion on a lot of characters though, on the plus side it does give a player a completely different vibe as long as they're happy with that.

I think switching the skill color should only apply to the player itself, or at most be possible to see other players effect in a safe zone. It is a good idea in general, and I'd love to recolor some skills. However, recognisability of skills / classes, as well as server strain (when post-processing different colors) would suffer if everyones adjustments would be rendered. So having it visible only to yourself sounds like a better idea to me.

Oh 100% agree, as long as the player can see it that's all that matters really, sure it'd be fun to see everyone's different palettes but unless there's a very easy way to mask it without decking performance it should just be player only.

Not just performance but for people who are color blind, probably why they wont allow them to be changed i guess not just performance. Plus i think each animation will difficult to change colors of because of how many effects there is involved just for the simplest skills.

But i think the game engine would be unable to handle it as it is i think they hit the limit of DX11's  and their game engine both have different limits , certianly if they upgrade the game engine things could change meaning this could potentially be a thing that could happen on the client side. If they move to dx12 may unfortunately put some players in the dark :/
