These boob/ thigh thirsty mofos going to down vote your post into oblivion. I'm with you in mind on this but these Korean developers not going to change. Every game coming out that country is of the same mindset and push the fox tale but plug agenda because they know 95% of their male population drools over anime boobs.

It's a selling point for their games and will never change. As I said before, these Korean companies about to have some competition here soon and there will be "True" fantasy immersive games with non-gender lock, Dwarves, Orcs, and better group balance set ups for PvE and PvP, so hold onto your hopes and money because BDO will never change.

I prefer playing and seeing female characters with a sexualized appearance rather than an androgynous character, as seen in like in Western games where female models run like males, of course, they have been influenced by social justice ideologies. Korean games provide a welcome escape from this negative influence of wokenism on Western culture. It's widely understood how to distinguish between males and females in most parts of the world. Embracing normal gender norms and appreciating physical attributes such as boobs is natural and important for the continuation and progress of the human species. Deviating from these norms would have negative consequences for our species.  There is nothing wrong with being normal and loving boobs, nature rules, the only way the human species got here and would advance is through the old fashion way of guys loving boobs, any alternative is the end of the specie.

Can we please focus on the main issue here? This isn't about if the female characters should be made appealing to men, it's about equality for both players who prefer to play with male characters and vice versa, which the game is currently lacking by a large margin.

Okay. Drop the Remove Gender lock verbiage, and let's change it to something more like, can we add male counterparts to the classes where it DOESN'T affect LORE. Those are capital not because I'm being a jerk but just to highlight them. Could we agree that there are SOME classes where a male version of the class would not affect the development of lore around the base classes?

I prefer to play the male characters in the game because when I'm running around slapping mobs I can relate more to a male character because subconsciously I insert myself into the class I'm playing and when that class is a male I have a more personal mental investment in building up that character. I think that is a more developed and articulate approach to voice my complaint. I understand the significance of Gender locking some classes due to the role a class plays in the development of the story arc, and what I was originally getting at is that I think with the current split of male to female characters I just want the developers to consider, where possible, to introduce the male counterparts of SOME classes because at least part of their fan base really care about relating to their characters as they  play through the game. This didn't start out as an angry rant about the gender of the classes available, or wasn't supposed to anyway. The intent of the post was to just ask that the team consider the people playing who want to relate on some level to their character in a meaningful way. And in this case specifically, I was speaking personally for me (and I think some of the player base would agree) just having the male counterpart when applicable to grind through the game. Usually for the 10th time, you know? It's like reading a book, you want to have an emotional investment in the lead protagonist of the story, and for me, as well as SOME others out there, being able to build a strong bond with that protagonist is sometimes difficult in this style of character design if the gender is not one you can relate to. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk on the internet, just voicing an intimate concern because I want to continue loving this game, zipping around some zones, and laying out some mobs. My apologies for emotive comments in the thread. It was not my original intent to invoke that kind of conversation. I just want this point of view considered for the future because I know there are others out there who feel the same way.

Also, I gladly blow money on my characters when I get that good bond because I too have no self control once I feel invested with my character and their progression. (Just a joke, but also serious about it happening).

If you are so against sexy cosmetics and gender locked classes in your MMORPG. There are quite a few Western MMORPGs that not only have gender freedom with their classes. But also try their hardest to make females not look sexy. I think you would have a better time playing those. Because I don't see BDO changing to your requirements any time soon.

I'll never, ever understand the problem with gender lock.

First off, it's a cultural thing. Asian MMOs often are gender-locked, they have been for about 20 years, and probably forever, but I can only speak about what I know first hand. They may not ALL have it, but it's the general trend in that category. Actually, most of the time they are gender AND race-locked. To be fair, they are even more likely to be race-locked. If you wanna play X you play an elf, Y is always human, Z is always the mandatory cute-and-tiny-race-that-looks-like-a-child-and-makes-some-people-uncomfortable, and so on. Perfect World, back in 2005, already had similar limitations. Don't want race and gender locks, don't play asian MMOs.

Then, we have 20+ classes, surely you can find a few you'd like to play that are of the right gender for you, if it matters this much ?

But Ok, let's assume you really, really wnat to play a class that doesn't have a counterpart. Like a female berserker, for instance. Well, it doesn't exist, so either play a male berzerker, or don't play berzerker. Simple enough, right ?

Yeah, I'm sure that exemple isn't right, though. Most people who complain about gender lock want to play a MALE. Because apparently, their masculinity is attacked if they play a female. Well, if your masculinity is so fragile that playing a female character in a video games threatens you, the problem isn't the game.

Lore?  This argument seems disingenuous because since when did BDO players care about the lore? The lore is not that deep. You can easily get around it too. The Magnus opened up multiple dimensions where the classes are different genders. Done.

Pvp? Over time you will instantly recognize a male dark night.  If you can't, that's a you problem. The classes already have the same costumes right? So how do you tell them apart? The weapon they carry, animations, movement, effects, poses, sound effects, etc. These indicators do not magically stop working because gender unlock.

There are players around who do care about lore. That you don't care about it that is your thing, but don't try as you speak for others, cause you don't.  There is quite some lore. Maybe a bit weird, but it's there.

Lets forget about genderlocks.

PA should release more male classes.

This has no counter argument. the end.

"B-b-but..muh lore" is such a laughable and disingenuous argument. We all know why the characters are gender locked. Sex sells, and it's an Asian MMO. Also, it costs time and resources to apply those changes to existing characters and to create M and F versions of each henceforth. Anything other than those two reasons is a massive cope by people who probably know better and wanna act pretentious or are just that stupid. Lore is something that is literally made up.

They could have just as easily included males in the lore or updated it to allow for males and females. Again, it's literally made the f*** up. Every aspect, including whether to include male characters for a specific race/class/whatever, is a fictional concept. "Oh you want x that we could semi-easily change over time... wow. Welp, can't do that because it wouldn't align with what we made up. And.. conveniently, we can't make up anything else that would allow for that".

Come on. Doesn't sound like an argument a dev would make. If it truly has nothing to do with the sexualized aesthetics of women, why not choose to over-represent men? Funny how, conveniently yet again, women were chosen to be the gender for most characters and the lore reflects it.

As far as PvP is concerned, figure it out. Have an icon display if they are close enough. Use sounds, animations, etc. Bottom line is, changes can be made. "Muh lore" is not an argument.
