Yes, I've been unable to get it to work at all but some others have told me they can so I don't know what's going on at this point.

Well you are headed in the right direction.

The activation of Woosa's lean back animation has been very problematic for me as well.

So the best way to get it to activate is to hold your back button down, while "backing up in place" against the structure you want to lean against; then let up on the backbutton and quickly tap it once.

So for PC that would be (Hold S) then (Tap S).

As to the results of this:

Flat open walls like above: normal activation 1-5 attempts.

Building corners or doorways: normal activtion 1-20+ attempts

Trees, posts, halfwalls, anything else: activation 1-100+ ??? attempts

The above is only from my own personal experience.

I have noticed there are some places I have leaned against, by some miracle, yet I have never been able to lean against again when using Woosa.

I agree there is something wrong with her lean animation as if it has too small an activation area or something.
