Because running around town in circles is sooooo 16th century.

(Keep in mind this is just one suggestion, the entire thread is about making horse training more interesting)

Marni's Treadmill could be placed in a manor and also "rented" around the world.

I'll be persistent with the treadmill moving... forward?

You might say well.. what about 4 horse wagons??? 4 horses could be placed on a single treadmill although one horse would be shown. The player would have to remain there with the horse. Likewise, the more horses you add to this, the slower they will level together BUT it would be ideal for leveling horses "overnight".

What's the problem with going around circles?

- Pathfinding is broken so you can't travel from one end of the world to the other if you wanted to AFK horse train

- Using a back and forth path outside of town tends to break for no reason.

- Going around town is ugly, you bump into everyone, you can't ever make a loop without several random spin zones (where you don't run continuously)

- There is no elegance and equestrian is all about elegance

- You just come to a stop sometimes, like a literal stop

- We've been asking for fixes and alternative means for many years but nothing has been delivered. thus, the treadmill being possibly the last feasible option

See, if you try to level a horse overnight, you'll probably come back with your character just standing there. A server hiccup could happen, there could have been a collision bug, internet may have had a 1 second issue, who knows? Minimizing to tray also seems to cause a lot of AFK related issues. But it's rare for issues to happen with striking dummies so why not a striking dummy equivalent for our little horse friends?

Next, you'll have your own fishing pond too. You'll just need to buy a bundle of the type of fish you want and you can afk fish in your manor too, because people being lumped together in safe zones and hotspots is ugly. Then, a shooting range, somewhere in your manor's garden...

While the idea is elegant and can save a lot of issues , from random stops to getting pk'ed to the manor being just a furniture storage with 0 utility, it'll also leave the world a lot emptier. A very good idea, functionality-wise, but...

I really don't like all this streamlining and optimizing and pushing for convenience till the whole game is just a contextual menu and a string of instances.

PS: before moving the horse training inside the manor (along with forever dumb-looking, never improved, 4 horses wagon), how about we ask for a meaning for all the training we're doing? Cus, you know... a Training Guru 50 has no say, no influence on the outcome of the horses that matter (T9, T10, imperial). Cus, you know, even the "benefits" of having any mastery are vanishing ("Horse capture rate" says 'hi!'). Push another aspect of the game that is in a poor state out of sights and, along with it, out of mind.

If you prefer you can try convincing PA to fix the broken horse system because I've been trying for years to ask for improvements on this xD Personally I don't care if i never see a wagon going back and forth in the city ever again. I'm just so sick of it but to each their own.

I'd love to have a better option than the treadmill but with the state of the game being what it is, i would say treadmill is the most viable option unfortunately.

The solution I can think of (maybe?) would need 2 things:

1. Gut the amount of both xp needed to level up all the horses and the xp gained from it to ~20% of their current values.

2. Redistribute the remaining 80% of the xp you'd get from leveling the horse to all the skills the horse would need the annoying minigame to learn. But not evenly. Sprint should get shafted, since you can train your dog to keep 2 buttons pressed. While at it, award more silver on sale for the skills that actually need active training, if they've been maxed. Sure, you may not always get 100% of the current xp per horse trained, but I'd rather pick that over spending 90% of a training event just watching my wagon or horses loop around endlessly around abandoned land.

Idea behind the suggestion would be that you'd need less afk'ing and as such be less susceptible to all the risks that come with it - desync, random loss of autopathing, randomly getting killed by a hardcore pvper, you name it - making the whole process a more hands-on approach. Greener too! 

Not expecting anyone to adhere to this, but ey! This is the place to throw random crazy ideas around. Maybe some will stick.

Yeah it would be a big improvement if those annoing afk horse traners would be removed from the cities.
