These comparison are designed to be as objective and honest as possible.

Combat: BDO

BDO remains the uncontested model for high speed 3rd person combo based combat.  Diablo 4's is action based and relatively quick.  However, it lacks in the complexity and amount of viable skills per class.  Especially available at any given time.

Now for the reality check and the real problem.  Diablo 4 is completely supeior in every other aspect.

Equipment System: D4

Diablo 4 has a great equipment system with a variety of unique abilities to customize your gameplay.  Lets be honest though, nearly any system would automatically beat the atrocious cash shop model system of BDO.

Leveling Progression: D4

The progression in D4 moves at a very health and proper pace.  It's designed to be played through and eventually it might get thrashed by seasons, but for now it's completely superior.  Again, anything would beat BDO's botched and broken system today.  Flying through all the content like it doesn't matter as people immediately advance through quests or try to power level blast through everything.  A cash shop dominated system in which the primary focus is to blast your through your new class for financial reasons.

Player Interaction: D4

What an amazing experience it is to have players join in random events working together rewarding everyone.  It's a little bit different than the toxic environement of BDO DFS, spot taken.  And with an massive amount of players in the game I have yet to run into a single issue with any player or witness any issues.

Quests: D4

Not only is the story simply amazing, but even side quests are simply designed the right way.  In BDO most true quest lines just involve going from point A to B (AFK pathing) and then spamming R.  From time to time you kill a few mobs.  In D4 it's done organically.  You grind your way across the world, gaining experience items, and getting side tracked by tons of events along the way.  Quick dungeons, mob feasts, just done to perfection.  They don't consume a lot of time and happen very organically.

Grind Spots: D4

You can grind just about anywhere and just explore for weeks.  With so many over land areas, dungeons, objectives, events.  BDO of course is find a circle and that's that.  Spend an unlimited amount of time farming that circle.

Customization: D4

This is one of D4's strongest points.  With a variety of items, skill choices, and real customization that matters.  Whether you want mobility, dmg, tanking, or very unique perks to using skills the entire game is filled with it.  BDO just doesn't have much to offer.  All the attempts have fallen flat.  BDO has a small amount for accuracy or defense builds, but overall it's not even close.

Content: D4

100% hands down D4 wins this.  BDO just quickly turns into spamming R, repeating dailies, and just never evolved into something much better.  It feels like the poors man version of everything in BDO.  The best thing they did for grinding was Elvia and minor changes to Elites, but it just doesn't cut it.  D4's design is just superior.  The events happen organically, you acquire materials through adventuring, not spamming hours of butchering.  D4 has a variety of small events, quick area clear, more involved dungeon objectives.

AFK Progression: D4

You don't need to ficticiously stay logged into D4 to inflate their numbers.  They have plenty of players and not trying to farm their own customer base in this manner.  I don't gain anything while logged out, and it's perfect!  The way games should be played.  You play them, you enjoy them, you progress at your own pace and enjoy it.

I don't agree to most of the written here and it's a poor comparison on top of that. Why don't you compare Lost Ark to Diablo 4? Both are isometric MMOs with similar controls/gameplay?

How OP comparing 2 different game type ? It's like comparing harvester and ferrari - both have at least 4 wheels and steering wheel.

Op ison drugs clearly, or just want to point out wrong and uncoplete aspects to make a grief thread.

Bot games have positives that other game lack. To a point that actualy you cant say one is better than other or worst. Apples and oranges...

There isn't much to be expected from BDO since it's their own player base, but a dose of reality and less copium wouldn't hurt.  What you may notice is that absolutely no one at this point has made any realistic counter arguements or facts.  Including your own,

There is absolutely nothing preventing BDO from implementing better features besides PA's lack of knowledge and effort.  Those aspects apply to virtually every single RPG ever created in the last decade.

I get why people wouldn't actually make those arguments though.  Trying to defend an equipment system that has plagued the entire game for nearly a decade doesn't go that well.  Neither does pretending grinding in a circle is the only possible way to design a game.

In fact everyone agrees with me.  If I had framed it differenty with a positive spin they would actually just agree.  In fact even PA would 100% agree.  If I said BDO should work towards breaking up grinding with random events they would say "We are trying that! We have been trying!!!!".

They did in fact.  And as stated they did the poor man's version with the least amount of effort possible.  They literally spawned a single goblin straight from Diablo lol.

That's a fact.  There are a few versions of it across the map.  Do people really want to defend that?  All the tools of 2023 and that's the best PA can produce?  Really?

I know right.  Like how you could compare class balance, character customization, upgrade systems, equipment, progress mechanics, quest content unless they are exactly the same perspectvie.

Imagine is someone tried to compare cut scenes!  Where you can't even see the characters perspective.  It would still matter though.  You just couldn't make that comparison.

In fact you can never compare anything because there is always a slight variation.  So no two things can ever be compared.  Except for idential things!! Whoa catch 22 you can't compare identical items!!!! Mind blown!!!

There is no re occuring fee for PC users.   Other devices may need it for full functionality.

With enough money you can complete BDO in less than 10 minutes ;)

Grinding for 26,000 hours in a circle just so you can attempt BIS Jewely isn't really the same as actual content.  Finishing the campaign is just an intro into newer tiers and end game.

NCSoft just destroyed Pearl Abyss also FYI.  They dared to SELL offline progression.  Even PA hasn't stooped that low....... yet.

1. You're missing the whole idea of the game. It's grindy from day 1. The progress was never meant to be that quick. Nowadays it isn't even slow. The reality is that, when someone comes to a game first one must understand the concept of it, before going to such quick conclusions. The first post was literally saying: "BDO bad, Diablo 4 Good." And focusing only on the negatives in one game and positives of another. When in fact every single game has it's own charms and lacks. BDO isn't perfect, nor Diablo 4 is. It's clear that the game isn't for you. So why staying here? Also... Curious. Did you even play it at all?

2. Diablo 4 may appear good to what you describe, but as any other mmo it will get changes in time on the progression pace or other aspects. This is just the beginning. At every single mmo I've been older content gets outdates as new things get added or limits get increased or both.

3. Gear isn't made only by enhancing as you've claimed. There is another option. Shocking isn't it? How?

4. Actually there are players that are reading the quests sometimes on their first run. I've seen at least one player, whom made a timeline of "Black Desert", various cannon stories, describing the ingame religions and deities... Do your research first, before saying "Nobody is reading quests and spams the R key".

5. There IS player interraction, but not in the same way as most other mmorpgs. Here it's possible to see either potential competition or teammates.

6. I personally do not need the cash shop to advance to 61 or beyond. Does anybody else need it? Hmm...

I am not going to play Diablo 4, because of this advertisement. It's also not my type of game. Sorry.
