Crystals breaking discourages players from doing and wanting difficult content.

Hi, so I did my first ever world boss for the adventure journal and I was very excited to do it on my main character, but after some doing a little bit of research I saw that I am risking billions in crystals for almost nothing it rewards. I found a guide and made a boss alt and the strategy is to hit the boss once and go afk till it despawns giving me credit. Maybe people may not agree with me but I just feel this system discourages people from wanting and/or participating in difficult content. There is no grind spot or boss anywhere in the game that is worth risking billions in crystals. I personally enjoy difficult challenging content and it is extremely fun with BDO's amazing content system and while it is fun to mindlessly grind in a circle watch Netflix and progress my character, I would really like to see the crystal destruction mechanic removed in the future.  I think it would really encourage PA to make more engaging difficult content that has fun mechanics that actually make you sweat and have the potential to die. I think that is a lot more fulfilling as opposed to only doing content that you know is safe. The new boss blitz is tons of fun and a great example of what the game could move more toward. Especially something like that with group content. I understand that without the destruction of crystals it could cause long waits on selling them, but I would say that is less of a issue for players as opposed to hitting a boss once with an undergeared alt and going afk.

PS I would love to know your differing oppinons. Or if you agree/disagree or have better ideas on how to fix the problem. Or even why you don't think it's a problem.

Not a problem.  Risk vs reward.  The implemented Crystal presets so it's easier than ever to swap to a "cheap crystal" preset.  You can make a preset with all cheap crystals for bosses.  You should never be ok with dying in video games, generally speaking.  That's equal to "losing" and most games punish losing by making you start from the last checkpoint, for example.

In BDO, death in PvE includes two main "punishments", or consequences = EXP loss and Crystal loss.  EXP loss is mitigated via Elion's Tears and Blessings.  These are given out abundantly through rewards and you can craft them now by doing RBF's.  Crystal loss is then the remaining "consequence", which can be mitigated by wearing a costume.  While this doesn't guarantee prevention of crystal loss upon PvE death, it hightens the chance of prevention.

There needs to be a considerable consequence for "losing" in most video games.  Otherwise, it devalues "meaning" from actually playing and trying to a great degree, that in turn, make the overall game experience less rewarding, fulfilling, and fun.  Yes, you can derive meaning and effort in a number of ways, but I don't think outright removing crystal breakage is the way to go.

If you can't recover from crystal breakage -- and I've broken MANY expensive crystals -- then don't use them when you're scared (use a cheap preset).  Simple.  Problem fixed.

Agreed 100%. Crystals breaking has always felt super bad. I had a guy come into my rotation the other day and wouldn't leave even after I explained to him that he was encroaching on a spot that someone was already grinding. After a while I got sick of it and flagged up and fought him for a while. After killing him a bunch I didn't realize I karma bombed myself and when he killed me finally I was negative karma and lost a 700m crystal (the new Crystal of Decimation). So not only did I have my experience ruined, I also lost a good bit of money and went negative silver/hr because PA thinks it's ok for you to lose gear that you worked hard for, even if you didn't really do anything other than want to play the game... I stand with you that losing crystals/lightstones is absolutely stupid.

Except you don't lose anything while dying to C7 boss blitzing. They obviously created content they intended would be hard and people should die to while learning. And just like high end grind spots, once you learn the mechanics and how to effectively avoid them you will die less. Being punished for wanting to delve deeper into the challenging content will counterintuitively make players shy away from the good end game fun, and I'm sure PA wants the opposite of that.

Personally, I think if you recently fought your first ever world boss, there is no way you should be equipping crystals worth billions of silver. To me that is nonsensical.  Yes, world boss rewards are extremely lackluster these days, and should be improved, but that is perhaps a different issue.

There is simply no need for 'the best' crystals until you're at the very pointy end of your GS/the game. Unfortunately though, the NA server inparticular, largely suffers from 'it must be meta or it's useless' which is absolutely 100% incorrect. My advice would be to find a nice and relatively cheap crystal set you are happy with and are comfortable enough to use for all content. For me personally I do this, none of my crystals individually cost more than 500 M silver. I use them for fighting all content, including all the harder bosses and places like Olun's etc, where one misstep can mean defeat. For me, it adds a little extra excitement to the battle, for right now there is next to no punishment for defeat in Black Desert. But, I also know if my character dies and I lose a couple of crystals it's not the end of the world. Just carry on.
