Pearl Abyss has added spawns for the World Boss Garmoth (yay) but removed loot drops (???). There is no point in going to World Boss Garmoth now. Only 2 ways to get Garmoth Heart now: Central Market and Quest line "Study the Time of Dragons for Inverted Heart of Garmoth." This is unacceptable.
Solution: add loot drops to World Boss Garmoth.
- Changed the method of obtaining loot from world boss Crimson Dragon Garmoth.
Before | After | ||
Obtain loot after defeating boss (Garmoth’s Heart, Garmoth’s Horn, etc.) |
Weekly boss defeat quest(3 times per week) Weekly Quest NPC: [Fearless] Kukao (Receive bundle as quest reward: Garmoth’s Heart, Garmoth’s Horn, etc.) |
Godslinger: That is not loot drops that is a Weekly quest. They are not the same thing.
its the exact same system, the loot bundle contains the exact items as garmoth would drop, and instead of 2 garmoths per week you get 3 chances from the 14 spawns,(bundle is 3 times per week quest)
so you clearly need to read <3

- Changed the method of obtaining loot from world boss Crimson Dragon Garmoth.
You get the weekly quest I - the reward is a garmoth loot bundle.
You get the weekly quest II - the reward is a garmoth loot bundle.
You get the weekly quest III - the reward is a garmoth loot bundle.
You kill more than 3 without a quest, you don't get a garmoth loot bundle.

Read the patch notes
This is really stupid. You could at least communicate it with an announcement before the fight in game if you're just going to rip the loot off a mob and hide behind a quest you have to pick up beforehand. It's incredibly unintuitive and it punishes new players + anyone who doesn't read every single patch note. There are absolutely going to be people every single Garmoth kill who also know about the quest but are going to forget to pick it up ahead of time and thus miss out.
How about there's a pop up on your screen if you fight Garmoth without the quest in your log? How about when you kill the boss, it automatically gives you the quest to go turn in if you haven't already done it three times this week? How about it's just not tied to a quest at all and they find some other way of locking the amount of times you can loot per week to three? Every other mob in the game, you get loot if you kill it. For some reason, Garmoth is the one exception. Of course people are going to miss out on loot, a lot right now but it's going to keep happening (to a lesser degree) because it's unintuitive and, crucially, it is not communicated anywhere in the game itself that this is an exception to how the rest of the game works.

Because quality of loot from bosses depends from your damage done. After this change it does not matter everyone have same HIGHER chance for rare loots = more hearts on market

They could have done that without putting a quest requirement on it. We know this as they have tweaked the degree to which damage done affects your loot several times over the games lifespan.
