I may look out of touch with this suggestion given the current storm on these forums, but the recent changes about Karma made me think about an suggestion I had in mind for a long time...

If it sounds strange to devs that one member of a family could have karma and not the others, shouldn't they try to apply the same reasoning to lifeskill levels? I mean, while having independant levels, skills points for every character seems logical because each combat style is unique, lifeskills are not related to the combat skills of your precise class. We can consider that family members can share their insight.

So why not having family-wide lifeskill levels?

It would allow players to benefit from their time investment for every lifeskill, allow them to choose on which character they want to do it depending on the situation (for example, navigation may feel widely different dependant if you're using it on a lvl 49 alt, or on your main character).

I don't see any drawback that would make it "OP", or easily exploitable so... What are your opinions? Wouldn't it be nice for any players using lifeskills on a regular basis?

There are a few things in this game that seem like blatant entrapment for cashgrabs, and this is one of them. Because most certainly we are going to want to use different characters, and there is always the cash shop solution of getting exp transfer coupons. No I don't think it is realistic or serving to my expereince to need to level 2 or even 3 characters to gain a passive skill as in lifeskilling.

Maybe for combat, which again is based around a char flavor and type, Lifeskilling is the same for everyone. It is still us as humans that are doing these things, so it isn't something that is challenging if anything it is easier, but you still deal with in game limits.

I hope they at least give the option, I am sure there are some that like the leveling and all of that. I would like to be able to focus on end game, but much of my time has been sunk into doing the same thing over and over, selling and rebuying equiptment, and afraid to sell it once I am done in case I change my mind down the road.

Well, I do think we should propose our ideas and let devs decide if it goes against their cash shop. ;)

If the idea is good, it may happen and devs will still find new ways to make from that. You can count on them!

For me most of lifeskills should be family wide because players cannot exploit it and those are - cooking, alchemy, processing, trading, training, sailing and barter. Although some life skills depends on energy and that life skills should stay as character based - gathering, hunting, farming, fishing (this one is dogshit anyway so no matter).

This at first look seems like a nice QOL but I think that it would be a bit wierd under the current family fame system.

This would be really nice. So you dont lose your Lifeskill ranks once you swap chars.

I have over 2k life fame and that's a hefty chunk of my 7k family fame. I don't feel like leveling idk 5 to 7 chars more anytime soon. So, unless PA finds a life skill fameworkaround - no thank you.

I have to disagree here!

Making lifeskill levels family wide is equivalent to having family wide combat gear. (Even worse you would have to maid your lifeskill gear around while placing your alts all over the world map)

This meta playstyle is NOT fun.

An better alternative would be to copy the lifeskills level when you tag your character. Once you untag, the lifeskill levels go back to normal.

It would be nice to have access to my higher life skill levels on every character. No more needing alts for fishing or faming. Family-wide life skills would also be beneficial to players who try out new characters for Node Wars as repair speed is based on life skill levels.

The life fame benefits could easily be re-scaled for it becoming family-wide.
