If it would be overpriced players would not buy it.
But they do it.

Because flexing is priceless, especially flexing in front of people who agreed to protest against ridiculous price, its even more priceless if you was a part of those people and you still went and bought that skin - BDO sailing community when this skin was added.
Same story with tent. 50$ for blocking others players vision - best deal ever!

They did bought it. The rest is irrelevant. If PA will going to think it don't sell enough they gonna discount it, the rest is "stop being poor" issue.

also because it just give straight up stats that is unobtainable by other in-game means
literally p2w
Agreed it is too overpriced for what it gives, honestly feel this way about a lot of the items though so like a general re-balancing of pricing honestly might not be a bad idea.

Exactly, players are the ones enabling them. Same for cron market. :'(

I was one of those players (but "had to" get one while on -20% sale and using 30% coupon making the price fair for this p2w item) and before the carrack cabin update it was a huge deal. Now, with more sailors, it's less p2w, but still is.

Sadly it's pretty simple: give stats to paid things and people that don't want to be left behind and have a fair chance, will cash in. it's not only flexing or convenience.

Not really, but when it's what you mainly do, you have no real choice but to adapt. Sailors are like any land rats that will do anything for best silver/hour or xp/hour.

The simplest answer is often the best...
The simplest fix for this is very simple and was given to PA even before they put it in the market:
make the skins marketable for silver with a good price for whales to buy.
Doesn't matter the price, whales will be whales if it brings good silver for real monies.
