The players who are complaining likely represent a minority: How many players are there like Sennen, who push Life Fame points, how many guilds are there like Life, who hunt Life Fame Points?

There are simply many more players who benefit from such changes, and on top of that, new players benefit the most. It reduces complexity enormously, I can't even express how happy I am about the upcoming change.

These changes/simplifications to MMOs are important to attract new players and ensure the game continues for many more years. The ones who suffer are the veterans; it's hardly possible to make everyone happy at the same time. Over time, even the veterans will benefit from it. While it may seem like a certain aspect of the game is disappearing in the short term, in the long run, it will open up a lot of doors.


imo: You can still continue to push guild life points further, it will even become a greater challenge for you because now you have to increase the overall family life level for more points and not just create a new character, transfer gear over, and level up a life skill from scratch... and since everyone is affected by this, it is automatically balanced, just harder than before.

It is just really sad for Sennen, if his exp would really get lost, maybe they increase the cap, that at least the exp is not lost, that might be beneficial for upcoming life level changes.

I mean, nice strawman, but as I said, I wasn't advocating for anything. In fact, I agree that changes they've made to zones and PvP were handled similarly poorly.
It's PA's M.O.: They announce changes nobody asked for with little to no information, which stirs the pot, and then they release said changes with no regard to, or interaction with, feedback. 

I was simply commenting on PA's bad development and PR habits, not airing grievances against one player group or another. Reading comprehension, my guy.

well they will need to rase the Guru 50 cap I have one toon that has 3 Guru 50 on it and it the one i cook with and it way past guru 50 and i know there are people that have toons the same way so with ouot rasing the cap yoour going to have a lot more way past guru 50 and you will have no sign were you stand with other.

Seems like PA can't be bothered to actually care about the community. 

Is there a downside to implementing it the way I suggested? I can't think of one tbh

Still, it blows that to please some people, they walk over others.  What's sad is that the people being dumped on are those that were playing the game and putting tons of passion into a part of the game they loved.  Nothing is sacred to PA.  They'll design something, people will get used to it and love it, and then, BOOM, it's gone forever.

But, nothing is forever in this life.  All things come to an end.  PA let's us know that with every update.

This unfortunate series of events is due to how the game was designed:  it's all focused on gear and impossible to reach stats, and they figured you'd only used one character at all times.  Then they over-expanded, giving us so many characters to play.  In order to make up for all the time you'd have to invest to enjoy playing as each chracter you make, everything had to become family-wide.

The biggest problem of PA: they have no vision.  They don't know where they're going.  They created an open-world MMORPG and over time, they're eliminating everythin in it to make it what some people want it to be: an arena game.  Log in, teleport to monsters, kill, loot, teleport to next monster zone, kill, loot, rinse, repeat.

Yes, personally I would have liked to see something diffrent. (besides my suggestion would have pleased everyone, since you still get your family wide lifeskill and I keep my life fame + alt leveling)

 

But why do they implement family lifeskills so half ass?

- all the lifeskills costumes are still character bound

- you need to swap your lifeskill gear every time you switch characters

- exp and mastery buffs are character bound

- energy is character based

- class imbalance for lifeskills like gathering (musa), hunting (striker), batering (corsair)

- etc.

If PA truely thinks that family-wide life skills are good for the game, then at least go all the way through and not stop halfways!

Right now I feel like it's really annoying to deal with these things, and also only tempts people to buy their p2w pearl shop items.
