Family Name: Bwi
Region (NA/EU): NA
Centralising the NA server may provide a small benefit to NA players but will pose a larger disadvantage to Australia + NZ player base.
I have been playing from NZ since launch with 140-160ms ping depending on VPN use and believe that a ping increase at the already high numbers of 140ms to 170ms will have much more negative impact on game experience than a ping reduction from 80ms - 50ms. In other words I believe the positive effect of 80ms to 50ms ping redution for East coast players will be much less noticeable than the negative effects of a ping increase from 140 to 170ms for the Australian and New Zealand player base. Thus I would ask for a reconsideration of NA server centralisation.
Possible solutions:
-Incorporate a VPN service with BDO to help optimise ping instead of changing server locations
Im on the east coast and get 140-160 ping without a vpn. Strangely, I get around the same ping when connected to EU. On the new central global central I get a 30 ping so its a vast improvement at least for me. You also need to consider most of canada population sits close to the US border near chicago as well. I would test the global and see what your ping is - may or may not be a deal breaker. But at the very least I think allowing a server transfer would be ideal.
Fantastic point.
PA are always happy to market this game to a worldwide audience, and are equally as happy to take your money.
But they do nothing to cater for those people located in Australia or NZ, or surrounding areas.

Connection routing, server host/hardware and user hardware can affect the quality of your connection.
With an optimal connection, east to west coast ping should be between 60 to 90ms. It is highly likely that the routing of your connection is sub-optimal and also likely that the server host/hardware and your own hardware (e.g router) is not the best.
You can check minimum, average and maximum ping values on WonderNetwork. Keep in mind that these ping times do not factor in additional latency created by your computer and router.

Yeah definitely a routing issue of some kind. Most games west coast I pull around 80-90 ping. I've tried exitlag and mudfish but they cause me to disconnect quite often so Ive just got used to the 150 ping.

A first strike approach for Pearl Abyss should involve contacting their server host and consulting with them to determine whether the routing to the server can be optimised, if not Pearl AByss should then look into partnering with and endorsing a VPN/tunnelling service that can provide the most direct routing from various east coast U.S cities to the west coast server location.
Additionally, Pearl Abyssr should provide discounts for players who are purchaasing the VPN/tunnelling service as well as providing in game rewards on a monthly basis to encourage the usage of the service; more users using the service, the better the overall performance and stability of the server.
Moving the physical location of the server should be a last resort, something that is considered when the above options are exhausted and deemed inadequate to address the issue.

I prefer the central location since it improved my ping by a lot. I rather not be asked to pay extra to play this game when PA can just move the server.

Understandable. However, moving the servers doesn't come cheap and takes time, hence why I provided more reasonable solutions to try out first. Moving the physical server location also negatively impacts players outside of North America which will results to poorer server stability due to the increase in latency from outside-of-US connections.
I hope they don't change the server location D:

Australian and New Zealand players have to pay for a VPN like ExitLag, it's mandatory to play the game. It's not a big ask for east coast players to get a VPN to improve their ping. I have friends that went from 150 or so ping down to 70-80 ping. Instead, east coast players are quick to throw us Oceanic players under the bus for a minimal improvement in ping and won't even try a VPN.
