I love the new Scholar class. Was wondering if she really has any weaknesses in her gameplay... till I faced off against Bloodstorm and then ThunderCloud.

She is a death-machine against any hard hitting hyper boss AOE attacks.

I must've gone through a dozen Elion Tears on each of those fights trying to figure out how to use her. She is so slow on evading their massive AOE attacks. Her back teleport and her concealment ability are both ineffective against getting out of the way. Her concealment ability is suppose to make her invincible while concealed but both of those bosses can still hit her whilst doing so.

I even tried disabling "Blink" and using her i-framed roll like Meahwa but once again she is so slow doing so it is a toss up if she can stay rolling enough to survive the 3-5 second long AOE attacks. My Meahwa is fast enough to easily survive up on the vanguard and my ranger is easily mobile enough to stay at the medium to far sweet spot when facing these bosses.

I actually just bailed on Thundercloud due to the fact that Scholar is a lumbering oaf who appears to be wearingcast iron weighted shoes when it comes to her running speed which makes trying to reach the de-buff spots nearly impossible after being inflicted. She is just too slow to be anywhere effective against these two bosses. Her concealment needs to be like 5-6 seconds long and actually make her i-framed whilst her back dash needs to cover twice the distance (maybe have a short travel AND a long travel version of the ability) so she can get out of the way. Heck, even an old fashioned block would suffice as tankiness or mobility is really the only way to stay alive while fighting these bosses from the vanguard.

I guess I'll keep trying to figure her out against these bosses but sheesh is this getting expensive with all of the lost elion tears and blessings.

Put your core down with Q and remember to use it or immediately anchor it again once the skill is off of cooldown. Otherwise, W+F is your longest distance travel. W+C~C is pretty fast mobility when used back-to-back.

Generally, with Thundercloud Kutum, its most painful mechanic, thundercloud, can be avoided by simply blocking. It's been months since I last fought Kutum, but if my memory isn't too far off, it attacks in patterns of 4 with that 4th attack being the lightning wave that will apply thundercloud. It also doesn't help that most people don't kill adds and turn in the stones to stun the boss and give everyone a large DPS window.

@Michi, thanks for the advice but I tried using "Anchor" and it simply will not stay long enough or far enough away from close range to be any use. I've tried using it as a teleport away in a jam and the skil doesn't stay onscreen long enough. I've tried using her back teleport directly into concealment but that also is not viable since she is vunerable between abilites. As for a straight up block... she doesn't have one that I've uncovered. I truly feel if concealment was 5-6 long or back teleport had a longer travel version she could use that to get off the vanguard during those attacks. Someone stated that a max defense build is the best defense against these bosses... lol,.. well, duh! But where's the challenge in that? I just want the class to have some survivalbilty against these two hyper bosses using ole fashioned skill. Also, she is still abysmally slow to run to the de-buff points after being afflicted against Thundercloud.

Anchor vanishes about a second before the cooldown is up. The range is about 30; this is in Velia and that arduanatt is heading down the path leading to the storage keeper. Her block is just hold back (S). If you find the movement that terrible, always keep your back to the tunnels you need to run in to. Between Q, W+F, W+C~C, W+RMB, hotbar Repulsion (frees you from needing a proceeding skill) and hotbar Gravity Storm (frees you from the 'required' S+SHIFT), there's no reason you shouldn't be able to reach the correct tunnel as long as you keep yourself between Thundercloud Kutum and the two tunnels that remove the debuffs.

Hehe... I just faced off against Garmoth. I tried a new technique, stood on the vanguard and took NO damage from any of her AOEs. Will try this new stategy against that Bloodstorm and Thundercloud. All for science right? Wish me luck.

Good luck.  I didn't know you could block any of the awakened world boss red-circle attacks.  I've tried blocking before and I always get stunnded or knocked over and then killed.  Is there a secret there?  Or are you guys just talking about normal, hard-hitting attacks?

I was specifically talking about Thundercloud Kutum's normal attacks since the fourth attack in the series causes that painful thundercloud debuff. Red danger zones are deadly and should be dodged. If you try to block them, I think your block soaks in as much damage as it can, breaks which causes a CC of some kind. Then you end up eating the rest of the damage while in a CC state, so extra damage is thrown on you, killing you. I think that's how it works (please correct if wrong).
