Support for BDO on Linux? Against TOS to run on Linux or VM?

I have seen some reports on reddit of people begin able to play bdo in linux with the new anticheat software change.

Is there an official position on support for Linux with the new Anti-cheat?
Can I just uninstall windows and move over to Linux without risking a ban?

BDO is currently the only reason to keep windows around for me. Dual boot will prevent me from afk lifeskilling and VM's work but are kind of in the same Gray area and the performance its not the same as bare metal (not too big of a difference but still FPS = dmg in bdo)

I have been playing since about steam release and I don't want to risk a ban for Switching OS or using a VM.

So is there an official ruling around this from PA?

Put in a support ticket if you want a response from a GM.

But using DXVK in any capacity will cost you FPS in this game.

Thanks for the idea, I just submited a ticket asking the question and also included the posibility of runing the game on a VM with windows.

I will post an update when I get a reply for visibility for the rest of the community

They do not "support" Linux, which means you don't get any help if you have problems with the game running on linux! But it's not forbidden.

It's also not forbidden to use a VM, as long as you don't use it to run multiple instances of the game at the same time!

Update: Got a reply on the ticket

Tldr: They do not support running on BDO Officialy on Linux and won't be able to give support for that operative system.
No mention regarding VM's at all or if its against ToS or a banneable offense.

I will be giving it a test run this weekend using ubuntu either from an NVME (if I have enough space to make a new partition for OS and games) or an USB with a partition on an nvme drive for bdo/steam.

And if I get baned for this well at least I wont be running windows anymore

Here is my ticket:

Since the change to the new anti-cheat software I have seen reports that BDO can be run on Linux through Steam.

Would it be against TOS or a reason to get the account banned to run the game on Linux instead of Windows (or run the game in a windows VM)?

I have been looking into stop using Windows for a while and the only reason that has stopped me from doing so is BDO.

I also know that dual boot is an option but that would not let me afk in game while I'm working in something different that requires Linux to be running on my machine.

Thanks in advance,
Omno

Last time I played this game was before the server migration or shortly afterwards. I am interested to see what happened to my stuff and of course how much I will enjoy it now, but it's nice to finally see it playable on Linux(with Proton/Wine).
Once I have downloaded it I will submit my testing results to ProtonDB, altough we probably have to wait for someone to adjust Proton for the Launcher as it seems that currently you only get a black window and have to navigate it blind until you start the game.

I mean, as long as they're not actively hostile against Linux players (and it doesn't sound like they are), Proton devs can do the rest. I don't expect them to fully support Linux anytime soon if ever.
