Family Name: HoChe

Region (NA/EU): NA

Suggestions/Comments:

Please revert the forced same name for files when doing ensembles. I understand this is to prevent accidentally playing the wrong song but it is ultimately counterproductive.

Three big reasons:

1. Many composers name their files "temp" or "1" forcing players to rename the file so it doesn't get overwritten by another song named "temp" or "1". Two players with different songs named temp can still ensemble thus defeating the whole purpose of forced same filename.

2. Many composers ALSO create complementary song files to overlap two of the same instrument in one song.

3. Many players also like renaming files to better organize their music library.

To whom it may concern,

This effects me natually due to the nature of how I name my songs, even my latest ensemble is breaking the system, after some testing we found that the song MAY play on the very first attempt (if it was an initial download, but not after), if it does, the person I was trying it with would pull out their weapons instead of an instrument and then it would play ONCE - but the majority of the time it just failed, the example I refer to is the following:

Istanbul (Not Constantinople) - They Might Be Giants

We understand and appreciate what you are trying to do here, but the smart thing would be to match on a hash of the file, then you could have the same file in 5 different languages and they would all show up, but as it is - this is absolutly broken,

I am suprised things like this make it out of testing tbh, I appreciate your time and look forward to a speedy fix (hash matching would be fool proof and easy to implement)

thank you

After additional testing, renaming the file then renaming it back to its original can also break ensembles.

Ensembles also break when being played, they are fine until some point then they go totally out of sync, and its not a ping issue, we did some experiments and found, as an example - a 5 x song is being played, at some point it goes out of sync at exactly the same time for a player in Australia, USA and Canada - if it was a connection issue, this would not occur

hi, soo yea the desync.

haven't seen anything about it in the recent known issues. soo ima say what i noticed.

in ensemble like terra said it would go out of sync at the same time for everyone.

tho, the issue happen even in solo. the song bug a bit and fast foward.

it's a bit awkward.

I would also like to make a comment about the composer, could you PLEASE PLEASE make it where you have to be holding an action key, eg. CTRL or SHIFT when clicking on the bar headers, this has been causing me nothing but trouble since you have added it, to the point where I am accidentally moving groups of notes (by accident and only realising minutes after the fact) just because I placed the cursor over where I was wroking or had clicked elsewhere without realising a group of notes was selected - this is a simple fix and I can only assume the developers who made these changes has never actually composed a song with the composer

I hope this doesn't sour the impression of new musicians discovering the system for the first time.  Please help us be your ambassadors to this really unique aspect of the game.

Hoping the filter gets adjusted/removed during the 10k note expansion.

The desync is definitely still an issue. I have a dedicated ensemble band in BDO, so we typically only play music of 5+ players. The desync happnes just as Terra and the other have stated. This happens on every song at a certain point. I am not sure what is causing it, but it is definitely there.

I will also second the filename update needing some type of revision, as this seems to be a painpoint on the ensemble side of things as well. If for any reason 1 persons file doesn't match exactly to everyone other member of the ensemble it will throw an error. Forcing everyone to go re download the song again just to ensure everyones files match. This is more than likely due to someone renaming a file in the BDO Music folder for organization. I am not sure what the solution would be, but there has to be a better solution to filenames.

Please fix this or come up with a better solution! The change in the filename handling really created more problems than it solved. In my little ensemble we changed filenames for better organization and now everything is broken. Even changing the names back and to the exact same did not help.
