Dying is part of the game, and it's part of the learning process when it is not caused by a DC. It also earns a lot of money through Elion's Tears. That said, for over 3 years, console players have been able to die without any loss of crystals or xp... This should especially bother you if you have ever died from lag or a disconnect.

PC players need a mechanism to reliably prevent crystal loss, so please either treat it like XP (A) or add a one-time-use item to prevent crystal loss (B).

Suggestion A that would resemble the console BDO system:

1. For positive-karma players, remove the chances of crystal breaking on death from PVE or PVP. You could make this part of the Pearl Costume xp loss prevention bonus that it already includes, maybe once per 12 hours like with the Fairy skill.

2. For negative-karma players, still force the breakage of 1 crystal randomly when dying from PVE/PVP. Keeping this feature could allow ppl to still make use of the ~3k pearl item that allows for additional crystal restorations.

Suggestion B:

  1. Add an item that would act as a safeguard for high-value crystals in a similar manner that Elion Blessing/Tear works with XP restoration. The item should be in the inventory or family inventory of the player, and at the time of death, rather than a crystal breaking, one of the held safeguard items would be used instead.

  2. This item could be crafted with an alchemy recipe or could be purchased from the Old Moon shop for maybe ~100 mil silver. It should be accessible and somewhat less expensive than the 1bil or 4bil crystals people are currently breaking and are unable to replace quickly.

  3. This consumable item could be offered for pearls, and if it has a lower cost players will buy it over the more expensive yearly restoration slot expansion.

The system that is currently implemented seriously discourages grinding unless you have replacement crystals sitting around already. Getting replacement crystals can take days since they are not all readily available, which, in turn, makes them less accessible to newer players. Furthermore, under the current system, it is almost always more cost-efficient wiht pearls to simply buy a costume to regain silver losses.

That of make it craftable by using the old cheap crystals over whelming the CM

Crystal loss does not need a rework, needs to be removed. We can live without another money sink system and with cheap crystals.

I don't really mind loosing exp or crystals if I die and it is my fault but to be honest it leaves you with a bit of a bitter taste if you are loosing crystals because of disconnects which are out of your control. I think I died like 20 times in the last 6 months just because of disconnects happening to me, this is honestly a reason why I consider quitting the game, my three free restores (which are a joke tbh) are gone too even when saving them for the more expensive and rare crystals of my build which i couldn't replace with my savings. And the biggest joke is the "solution" PA intruduced, "hey you have problems with crystal breaking? Here just pay us 70 Euros and you get another three restores a year" idk if I should laugh or cry about this offer. There are a lot of good suggestions to handle this problem, for example the solutions mentioned above by DittoIsPink, but if you don't want these at least implement something like a crystal break protection if players have disconnects (through something like recognition of connection timeouts ). Another solution could be the one mentioned by Dee357, which gives another use to crystals by including them into an alchemy recipe to craft a crystal loss prevention concoction that works like elion tears. There are so many better ways to solve this than the current method which is just centered around making people spend either irl money or ingame money and time.

Unfortunately, it seems PA's solution is to force you to buy things that reduce death's penalty. Including that Kibelius fairy outfit (ugh). I really wish they'd remove the crystal loss on death.

This. ^^^

Because of the current system, 90% of the time I run with no crystals at all. The other 10% I only use the cheapest crystals available to fill in a gap or two. Why? Because I am still relatively low GS, and silver is better spent getting better gear than replacing stupid crystals, especially expensive ones.
