I believe when the sky balloons first came out, it wasn't possible to get heatstroke / hypothermia when passing over the desert when riding the balloon and it was intended to be that way.
However, now it is possible to get either and for your character to die while riding the balloon if not you're not paying attention.

Could give the Illya island Buff on mounting to protect against that.
