I'm confident anyone that frequently uses a ship is feeling this one, I'm shocked I couldn't find it already posted here.
There is a lot wrong with ocean auto-pathing, I'll keep this to what annoys me the most and encourage others to include additional consequences/problems with ocean auto-pathing in the comments:
- Auto-pathing cannot adjust and update fast enough to keep up with Breezy Sail
- This knocks the ship off the path and can result in a never ending loop as the ship tries it's best to re-align to the updating auto-path, often exacerbating the problem.
- This can also result in a ship being "thrown" toward the closest random island, getting stuck.
- Autopath gets way too close to land & islands, causing the ship to frequently get stuck
- For some reason, ocean/ship auto-pathing is like a MAGNET to land. This is especially frustrating in areas with a lot of small land structures/islands collected together, near the shore. For example, autopathing from Port Epheria to Velia will most certainly cause this, almost always the auto-pathing is trying to get my ship to weave and squeeze between these collections of small land outlets, definitely causing it to get stuck.
Theses a very consistent, happening nearly every time I step away during bartering. I recognize that ship speed certainly has something to do with it, as it got MUCH worse as I was upgrading my ship and it's gear (now maxed)
Ideas: (I don't know man...)
- Keep the auto-path away from land, this could be an invisible barrier. Honestly, it could use just a little more distance
- If needed, you could extend the distance able to interact with barters
- Update it to AVOID known areas with a high volume of small islands/land structures collected together (e.g. shore between Port E and Velia)
- Have auto-pathing adjust and update faster? I know this is general and ill-informed but I'm not a developer ;)
Bartering has NO relevancy or appeal in this game WITHOUT the ability to semi-afk, even with the recent updates (HUGE thank you!) it just can't make enough silver to compare to fully active play. The current state of ocean auto-pathing is making semi-afk, and thus the appeal of Bartering, nearly impossible.
