The Magnus is a TERRIBLE implementation of "Fast Travel".

Truly, it's horrible.

Two loading screens. First to get in, then to get out.

Three unskippable cutscenes. First to jump in, second to watch the teleport stone thing slooooooowly turn sideways, third to jump out.

And that's if it works.
Most of the time it functions as fast quit to desktop since jumping in that well usually just causes the game to crash.

You've put the magnus on its own server, REGION_Magnus1, so you are forcing what is essentially TWO channel swaps to "fast travel" in a game that is notorious for crashing when server swapping......

If we aren't going to be doing actual content within the magnus, why send us in?!

I really dont think the devs actually play their own game.

It's such an asinine system I can't believe someone looked at it in its current state and thought "yep, thats good! lets send it live!".

Please add a way to fast travel from the main game world so we can skip the well jumping.

I don't think they'll do what you're asking as fast travel was intended to be a convenience that doesn't take away from the feeling-of-size of the game-world.  Magnus fast travel is great for long distances, like, Grana to Valencia or even Altinova to Calpheon, but everything in between is probably better off being normal-travelled.  There's reasons why it was designed that way and I'm pretty sure the devs thought about this one.

Magnus fast travel will be absolutely mandatory for travelling between the mainland and The Land of Mourning Light, especially if you don't have a fast boat.  So once the new region drops, I'm sure you will thank the heavens you have it.

IMO, the Magnus fast-travel system is intended to:

1) Add convenience (as explained above)

2) While keeping in-tact the feeling of size of BDO's game world.

3) And also keeping fast horses (a fast horse being the original "fast travel" in BDO) relevant.

I think they will add more content or quests into the Magnus in the future to give us additional perks, like maybe more "free" AP/DP, "free" items, etc., but Magnus is just a "side-content", as BDO's "main content" are activities you do in the open world. Grinding, lifeskilling, questing, PvP'ing, etc.

Making fast travel accessible into, like the main menu or something like Guild Wars, I don't think will ever happen.  IMO, doing so will hurt the game much more than benefits.  Gone will be the sense of size of the world and gone will be the relevance and pride that comes with making fast dream horses / enhancing high level horseshoes.  It might be more inconvenient to you, but for the sake of the game itself, I don't think doing so will be a good idea.  That's just my opinion.

Yeah it's basically useless for it's purpose.

Just take magnus as a storage improvement and free pen ang jsut forget the rest.

Or... It is intended because devs don't want players to jump from point A to point B on a whim.

This was hidden by admin due to the reports it has received.

If you don't like the Magnus, just don't do the Magnus.  I have used it to unlock the free storage transfer.  Beyond that, it isn't my ideal of "fast travel" for silver.  I still wait an hour to transport characters, while I play on another one.   The original Guild Wars allowed free map travel, once you unlocked any city or village with a visit.  When you first had to traverse that path the world seemed huge.  After you had the cities explored and started blinking around the map, it no longer seemed as epic.  Fast travel can make a virtual world seem very small.  Magnus as much as you care to do.

You entitled fools think everything is too hard wish you played in the times of old original MMO's there was not any fast travel and people were grateful to have a game to play with friends and I personally think it would take a lot away from this beautiful world they have created.

If they took fast travel out of magnus and scrapped the idea all together I wouldn't complain. Many other meaningful things that can be worried about.

I personally like it the way it is. It's balances itself pretty well because you have to make a decision whether or not you want to spend millions to teleport and spend a certain amount of time between load screens or go to your location and not pay anything other than the silver per hour that you're using to travel, if you were planning on doing that. Personally I rarely use fast travel and my only complaint is that they fix the CTD that can happen while using it.

The game world would most certainly feel small if we could easily teleport anywhere at any time. It's one of the few games left where there's some degree of immersion. I think many of us playing BDO come from old school MMORPGs (before WoW) where fast travel didn't exist and it was all about survival. I believe that the vision that Pearl Abyss has for BDO is more in line with those games than modern MMOs.

It's funny how people try to defend the Magnus by saying it's main feature is to unlock storage - this is not what the op is talking about.. Magnus was mainly advertised as fast travel.. And this is why it's the biggest and most epic FAIL of PA so far. It is completely useless for travel, it fails on absolutely every level - it's painfully slow, buggy, ugly, completely unlogical, extremely annoying, with laughable mechanics and should be removed from the game. As much as great was the storage part, the traveling is nothing more than a pure scam.

There's practically still NO fast travel in BDO.

so loading screens is your solution for balance?

if devs dont want us to fast travel - fine, just don't tell us that we have fast travel when we don't.
