I already posted about this problem on old forum and nothing was done about it, so maybe we will have more luck here.

A lot of users noticed that BDO client gets laggier each day, and it's fixed once you restart the game. Problem is with handle leak. Instead of closing handles, this game client just keeps using more and more of them. Over time, this process is using over 400'000 handles. For reference Windows Server virtual machines that I worth with in my company usually have around 70'000 handles in total. BDO can have up to 5x and even more handles ... and that's only single application.

That's just not right by any standards, and I hope this get fixed soon.

If anyone wants to know, how to check handles of your BDO client:

Start Task Manager, go to Details, Right click on the bar where it says "Name", "PID", "Status" etc. and click "Select Columns". Then scroll down the list and check "Handles". Now you should see how many Handles is your BDO client using. Anything more than 15'000 is considered as handle leak. At the beginning when you start your game from launcher, it should be under 7'000, which is fine. But what isn't fine is that this number will increase by 50'000 each day for no apparent reason.

More info about handle leaks can be found here: Pushing the Limits of Windows: Handles - Microsoft Tech Community

Example of BDO client using almost 400k handles.

This is a HUGE deal

12-13 hours and the fps drop due to all of the handles makes the game unplayable. If the handles get too high it will bring down even the most powerful system while you afk fish or are on a trining dummy overnight.

Not good for a game that rewards afk activity.

Not to mention what happens when you do horse training over night with minimised game ... you come back after 8 hours and your FPS has gone from 120 to 40. And the only way to fix it in this case, is to restart the game.

I also noticed that when I was afk training like this, my game would crash almost every night. At that time I had set it to remastered settings. But then I started using lowest/optimal settings for horse training over night, and don't have any client crashes so far.

But handles are rising regardless of game settings, and FPS are dropping down slowly ... It's just horrible.

I won't get my hopes up, but it would sure be nice to not have bdo leaking handles like crazy.

Oh I didn't know about this, thank you for letting us know. I have a question, have all of you that know of this issue reported it to PA via ticket?

This explains my fps issues. I normally would have 50-75fps on average. But when I looked at my average as of late with a performance monitor, it was 34 fps. I couldn't figure out the issue. The only thing I knew is that restarting the client would fix the problem temporarily. But it would just tank back down to 30fps and below.

I really hope they fix this.

No I didn't ... I opened few tickets back while Kakao was still in the picture and always got just generic response from them on how I should optimise my PC.

But lets give it a try at PA and see if they will do anything about that. Opening a ticket right now.

Since update yesterday I started my client with around 2500 handles, and now on the next day in the morning there are still only 2500 handles.

Did they actually fix this and didn't mention it in any patch notes?

Can someone else check if number of handles are now under control?

Spoken too soon. Restarted game client since there were some additional updates since yesterday 16:00 CET.

Now I'm already at 8500 handles in few hours.

Oh well, back to waiting for this fix.
