I see no real justification for sinking other boats in this game. Fishing spot? really?
So the notes on global lab were released and....
Players who perish with less than 0 maritime sea karma will suffer an enhancing reversal penalty to equipped boat gear.
This means you lose boat gear progress when you die at a fixed rate. Much like going red on land but much worse.

Changes like this will kill all sea content for combat. This effectively removes the OWPVP aspect of pirate warfare.
We must voice our opinions here guys and get this REMOVED from BDO.
ya'll shoulda stopped griefing khan and pve players. did it to yourselves
Nah this is a great addition. Pirates should get degraded at a 100% chance.
They really dont get it. All they had to do was make trina axes 10-shot Carracks and it'd be fine, and make lvl 49 chars unable to repair ships.
Naval Karma shouldnt be a thing, it should all go off of your normal karma.
Sure, so that your empty red character can keep sinking afk players without any consequence, right? lmao
if I pk people and I become red I risk to downgrade my gear, why shouldn't a pirate be supposed to have the same karma system? Your pvp gear is your ship gear. Sailing characters have no gear.
let's say you had fun until it lasted
Gear downgrade is stupid to begin with. When the max gear was +15 Gear downgrade was MEH, yeah it sucked but it wasn't game shattering because you could smash stones into the gear and get it back to +15. However with Pens that can take hundreds of hours and many many attempts to get gear downgrade is stuidly oppressive. Gear downgrade should be removed, and crystal Breakage should be removed from PvP.
First thing you have said that I agree with. Better yet they remove forced pvp from some servers at the same time they make these changes.
And so nothing of value lost this day.
Only because the +10'd Blue Gear people who still "Pirate" now.... are so far beyond everyone else in Power that they will simply never Sink unless the server itself has a giant Lag spike while they're surrounded by 10 other "green" Carracks.
The only thing of value that was lost, was everyone's perspective on just how "Elites get Elite'er" the Sea content already was.
