How to make Corsair instantly better right now:
1.) Disable all her Mermaid Attacks. (3 you have to disable so you don't accidentally use them, 1 you can't disable since it can only be used in a quickslot)
2.) Aim Assist On.
3.) Combat Assist On.

When releasing a new character in agame such as BDO you need to understand that she cannot be weak. Otherwise she would be irrelevant.
The same rules applied to all new characters released since 2018. IF the new character is weak, people will drop them and not continue to build them up. This means ultimately they wont swipe to make the toon equipped in all activites in the game. This includes buying storage, buying carry weight, buying glamours, buying functional costumes etc...
The system they set-up is one that supports a business model. And as a business you cannot fault them for that.

Remove mermaid give flintlock offhand and a shotgun mainhand and unleash the gunner we actually wanted

Stop making things up and show me where it says that Corsair is a support class? Because it doesn't, anywhere. Where as Shai does state it's a support class. Other classes also state they may have supporting roles such as tank, assassin etc....
Sorry but I'm not making things up, I'm sharing the conclusions formed by the pvp playerbase I have been able to discuss the class with. As a shotcaller and a NW guild GM its kinda important...
She has the ability to fully heal allies https://streamable.com/z8x7er
She has a plethora of abilities that make her take less dmg over extended periods of time (interspersed iframes, higher evasion stats)
She has skills which deal true% dmg on enemies (by reducing their blocks, effectively dealing damage values in excess of 100k hp under moderately favourable circumstances)
She has the mobility which allows her to reposition during fights and either peel for allies or engage enemies...
The only thing she is missing is a grab from being one of the perfect support classes...
Stroker, Zerker, Witchards, Valks, these arent 'support' classes either, but they can be used in such a role and often find themselves played as such.

As a shai main, this is a big step forward for me. lol! Actually, I don't mind it, I actually kinda like it a lot. I prefer the movements and the fighting system in it. I haven't tried it after maintenance yet but I enjoyed it so far. However, I wish they would add Caution for corsair because I keep sliding off cliffs to my death. Other than that, it's a nice class but sadly no ass.

Well i have to agree that corsair is one of the worst pre awakening out there ... its so annoying to grind with that class man , srsly it hurts. I think idea behind corsair was great but its a big MEH on my part . I do think awakening is going to be fun (i hope for this class sake).

You guys should try out musa, maehwa, ranger or berserker !!!WHAT!!!!????? for instance and see even "worse" classes.
Zerk is one of the best pvp classes you just cant be a bad at the game it takes skills. maybe the floor is really low but the cieling is really really really high dude.

Ok so at 240 areas like Maushaums and Ronoros, I 1 combo huge packs. ok this is not considered weak.
I am curious what it will be like when i graduate the Corsair and go to elvia tagged with my main gear 286/380 hoping its similar.
Class is not bad.
1v1 is ruff tho. No doubt.

I'm having fun on her. She's a great grinder, decent pvp against like geared oponents. Looking forward to what her awakening will be.
Not sure why people are complaining so much. This is one of the most balanced class releases to date, IMHO.
If you don't like it, don't play it! :)

what are u talking about? geared ones are excellent for group fights due to stuff they bring to the table. few of these can turn whole frontlines into stinking pile of shit.

You mean break block? But that's it ...she dont have dmg.. her skills feel very clunky , stuck in animations :/ When she was released i hope it will be next "assasin" class but ...heh :/ we have what we have...which is what hmm?
