Everything wrong with the combat system

Going to keep it simple:

 

1. Characters that can dash/teleport with little to no animations

2. Grabs with millisecond animations and zero recovery for missing

 

To me number 1 is the worst offender, for many classes it just looks like they are teleporting around the screen or around you. Making them almost impossible to pin down. Its like PA said fuck animations just let them go from point A to point B with nothing in between. 

 

Its a fun game, but many of PA design elements hold it back. Don't even let me get started on RBF map design. Probably the worst map design I've ever seen in my life.

Ha theres more then this wrong but everything wrong kind of falls back to the core issue in the games code aka FPS=DPS and animation speed.

 

Unlock your framerate using external sources ( never intended by the way) and you hit way harder move way faster and have less overall holes in your protections. ( If you ever fight at 60 vs another player at 60 it feels way more enjoyable and fair since less damage and more fighting back against your opponent.) however CC is still an issue even with fixing that because its RNG.........

 

In terms of how Crowd control and resistances work I mean its a joke. 

1. Resistances should not be something you should have to slot into gear to have a RNG chance to dodge a CC.

The better way to do this is make the CC garenteed to land and limit how much CC each class has and also make the cooldowns long on those skills. 

2. On top of this I would even go as far as to remove super armors and iframes completely and maybe just give one or 2 CC breaks to each player. Kind of how BNS does it. And then adjust all classes accordingly with all these changes.

 

But PA saying instead lets just buff every class up to succ Wizchards level is a joke and will never work and thats why are balance is in shambles.

The fps is a heavy issue though. If you use 3th party software to unlock your fps, you gain an extremely high advantage. Playing on 60fps is like playing with 500ms lag, as you literately see others with such delay. At ~200fps it's much better, though even with unlocked fps, the desync happens constantly...

I think the RBF map is pretty good. The only real problems is the spawn design and map size. It just seems too small for 60 people.

No they ain't planing on it. Once they try'd, and the whole game broke.

They are "working on something", but probably that was just an empty PR statment.

The root cause is that their devs are inexperienced, and have no clue how an mmo should work. Things like this are so rookie level issues, that I can't really understand how they are exist in the first place. (Well I do, they hire the cheapest devs they can found, and that's what you get for pennouts.)

u know at that point why not introduce also tab targeting XD

This game already have auto targeting, heck auto facing aswell since a half year or so. At this point there is no difference compared to a tab targeted game.

Not to mention that the mayority of the top tier classes have abilities with so large hitbox, that they literately hit everyone on the screen, including people behind the caster, which is just retarded. In wow you at least can los your opponent, but in this buggy mess you can even got hit through walls...

In alot of ways it does.

 

And honestly the reason Tab is so successful is because less issues dealing with internet more playing the game. You will find far less lag and issues with dsync etc with Tab target. As long as you make the tab target feel good to use and give it depth its still the best way to do the combat.

We enjoy PvP because of the speed, the reaction time needed, the fluidity, complexity, and general feel of the combat here.  This includes what you determine as teleports where you can't track people.  You do realize, however, you ahve a minimap, and your opponent shows up as a white dot unless they're a ninja/kuno in stealth?  Even Sorcs can be tracked this way when Sorc uses Nightmare....sounds like a git gud issue to me.

 

BDO problems in PvP are primarily desync, FPS=DPS, weird bugginess like getting hit through walls, how elevation can cancel out damage at times, and stuff like that.

 

Maybe a slower paced combat system is better for you.  I like the fast paced, twitch reactionary, combo-centric, outplay, mind-game, tea-bag style of combat we cuurently have, just wish they'd buckle down, go hardcore on fixing the combat system's core issues and giving us players more opportunities to flex our skill, no matter our gear level.
