I enjoy the grand prix horse racing. It can be fun... whenever there's an event to force people to do it so you have a minimum of 5 people to begin with. If you're ever able to experience the grand prix horse racing you'll see the issues as to why people don't do it.

1. There is little skill involved. What I mean is this: It doesn't matter if you're first or last because of the "catch-up" mechanic. Oh, you managed to thread the needle in the Calpheon race track early on and get a lead? Doesn't matter, the race literally throttles your horse's speed and speeds up everyone else. Its to cause this sense of "urgency" near the end when everyone is neck and neck tryning to get 1st. However that leads me to the second point.

2. There. Is. Collision. Detection. Your horse slows down and speeds up everytime they come close to another person. So what people do is they try to body block others to slow them down. This just adds to the frustration when you popped the "Giddy Up" and Mr. "How dare you speed past me" lets most of it go to waste because he steps in front of you, making you slow down.

So what can we do to fix this? Literally remove both of these points. Remove the "catch up" mechanic thereby making the races "skill based" as they're supposed to be, and remove collision detection because there's enough "hallway" pockets in the races to really annoy the racers. I don't know, maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I really hate it when I finally have a group of people to do a race and the people that just hang out at the start for several seconds can still end up neck-and-neck at the end. They're literally ignoring the first 10 seconds of the race by standing at the start yet they can still fight for 1st.

Agree on all of those.

3. The only real reward is getting enough coins for your daily horse awaken mats; giving some general rewards would really help out with retaining others who don't care too much about those things and just want to race.

4. Yes, please for the love of god. It'd be nice to "queue" up rather than get transported. The racetracks are dead because those that have a stash of coins pop in and only stay if there's already at least 2-3 other people there. Change the penalty from "1 hour of no participation in races" to only happen if someone willingly leaves the race after it's begun. Also, make this penalty occur by family than by character. You can literally swap to another character and do the races because they didn't leave the racing area.

5. Better rewards all around. Calpheon is a difficult track compared to the others and they all have different times it takes to complete them. Why would I bother doing a race that takes 3-4 minutes when I can just do velia and get it done in a little over 2?

6. Agreed. No catch up mechanic means the window in which a race can be completed should be extended. This gives others a chance to at least get something as a reward.

It's not fun. If it would be fun players would do it.

But it ain't, it's AIDS.

Shit mode got what it deserved.

The problem is a good deal of content in this game is dead.

1. No one does grand prix horse racing because people don't find it fun, either in the racing aspect or the points made above.

2. Lifeskilling just gets shafted in favor of more PvP content, which a decent portion don't want. Is there anything really new you can gather? Anything better for farming? Trading's finally getting an update at some point; what about alchemy?

3. Lakiaro was a pretty cool thing when it came out. Now I don't know if anyone even bothers to do that.

4. Desert's pretty dead unless you're trying to go for a compass/map

Most of the "dead" content just needs a tiny tweak to be good, and they just... don't. They leave it there to rot while adding more content people weren't really asking for.
