Toggle to turn off "better gear" prompt OR change how nouver and kutum (and their event variants) are read

Hello,

For quite some characters I have TRI nouver and TRI kutum, or TET Nouver and TET Kutum both in their inventory. Whenever I have Kutum equipped, I constantly have the prompt "you have better gear. Try it out now!" opening and closing my inventory, clicking the prompt, switching characters are all temporary solutions. The prompt will not go away.

Please, allow us to toggle this message off in our settings, or change it so that the game doesn't count Nouver as the better weapon, purely because it has more AP (this is also misleading for new players who don't know that in most cases, Kutum is preferred for PvE clearing).

And of course, if this is a bug, it should be fixed.

Thank you and have a nice day

The logic they use to determine whether a piece of gear is better is just too primitive. Another annoying example is how something like the various Hunter's Clothes will be considered better than your normal chest piece, because they have more DP. However, because the Hunter's Clothes take up all of the armor slots, you actually lose DP when equipping them, so they are in fact worse. The game would have to take into account what your AP or DP would be after making the switch to get that right, and it obviously isn't that sophisticated about it.

And of course, in general, the fact that any of this applies to lifeskilling clothes is just plain annoying. I don't care if my Silver Embroidered Trader's Clothes +3 has higher DP than my Silver Embroidered Farmer's Clothes +2. I'm going to wear the one that's appropriate to the current task, and the DP is completely irrelevant. The only time that it would make any sense for the game to tell you that any particular type of lifeskill clothing was better than what you were currently wearing would be if you had a better version of the exact same type of clothes in your inventory. After all, it doesn't even make any sense to try and claim that Manos clothes are better than Silver Embroidered Clothes, because they serve different purposes even if they're for the same skill. AP and DP on lifeskill gear is just a nice bonus that you generally do not care about when selecting clothes.

It might be useful if there were a button in your inventory to tell it to show "better" gear on the rare occasion that it made sense, but it is extremely rare that I have any interest in the game telling me that I have better gear to equip - especially since you simply don't get better gear from drops (except maybe when questing in Calpheon or Mediah when going through the main questline with a new character). You get better gear by enhancing it or buying it. Even if good gear drops, almost none of it is good enough to use without enhancing it first. So, having the game tell you about "better" gear is almost always because of lifeskilling gear - or because of alternate gear with different uses like with Kutum and Nouver like the OP is complaining about. So, ultimately, the feature is basically just there to annoy players rather than help them.

And of course, if we got rid of this feature (or at least allowed us to disable it), then we could save some space on the bottom of the screen by getting rid of the button that's there to tell you about your "better" gear.

Agreed! Sometimes I don't care much for the gear I have on while I do some gathering activities like collecting Troll Blood and I get Talis equipment which automatically equips when I press R to collect the items. I just have to take it off, but I'd rather it doesn't pop up in the first place.

This is insanely annoying and is a prime example of how terrible this all is. That being said, since Manos Gatherer's Clothes don't actually have any DP (and thus apparently don't trigger the notification about you getting "better" gear), ever since I switched from Silver Embroidered Gather's Clothes to Manos Gatherer's Clothes, the problem with my gear regularly swapping on my while gathering troll blood went away. So, while I definitely think that PA should fix this, I suggest that you get some Manos Gatherer's Clothes to work around the problem (and of course, they're ultimately better anyway unless you're trying to get more gathering XP faster rather than more of what you're gathering).

That was already suggested, just the soo caring PA don't bother to remove or make disableable the crap that they put in for no reason in the first place.
