Imperial Crafting Deliveries as a Filthy Casual Pt. 2: Gathering Materials to Make Boxes

Family Name: Blaqklight

Good afternoon! Ambassador Blaqklight here with Part 2 of our Imperial Crafting Deliveries as a Filthy Casual series! I got a comment last week my previous post from Ambassador Anodyne asking me to outline the process for making some of the less complex boxes for Imperial turn-ins. While my last guide focused purely on buying already made meals from the marketplace, this one will focus a bit more on how to start making them yourself.

Picking the Right Box:

The first part of Guru box turn-ins is deciding what boxes to make. Some meals are super complicated and require many different ingredients to make. Others, on the other hand, are as simple as setting up some nodes with decent workers and then gathering the rest of the ingredients yourself. It's important to remember that time = money and that we're only doing this casually. If we spend the whole day gathering/farming, we'll miss out on the bigger picture of only using this as part-time income.

With that in mind, there are 14 different kinds of Guru boxes that we can make:

- Balenos Meal

- Butter-Roasted Lobster

- Calpheon Meal

- Hard-Boiled Shellfish

- Kamasylvia Meal

- Khalk's Fermented Wine

- Knight Combat Rations

- Margoria Seafood Meal

- Mediah Meal

- Odyllita Meal

- Serendia Meal

- Special Arehaza Meal

- Special Drieghanese Meal

- Valencia Meal

For this guide, we will be focusing on, in my opinion, the easiest meal to make with minimal effort: Valencia Meals.

Disclaimer: Making these will take SOME time and SOME effort. The term “filthy casual” refers to us who minimize our time spent doing mundane things to generate additional profits. This does not mean that we will not need cooking utensils, clothing, farm plots, or other mastery-increasing scrolls. This also does not mean that we won't be cooking and farming to get the individual ingredients. It just means that we won't be spending a ton of time gathering various products across the BDO world, we'll only be focusing on a select few.

Valencia Meals:

Valencia Meals are made with 5 main ingredients:

- 1 Teff Sandwich

- 1 King of Jungle Hamburg

- 1 Couscous

- 2 Fig Pie

- 2 Date Palm Wine

 Date Palm Wine:

Each of these core ingredients are made up of sub-ingredients. To start, we'll talk about the easiest one to make: Date Palm Wine (DPW). DPW requires us to have 5 Date Palms, 2 Essence of Liquor, 1 Sugar, and 4 Leavening Agent. Date Palms can be bought from the MP or can be gathered by a worker at Crescent Shrine (CP 4), Erdal Farm (CP 5), or Valencia Plantation (CP 5). Essence of Liquor is simply 1 Flour (grinding any wheat/cereal product), 1 Fruit (any kind), and 1 Leavening Agent (bought from an Inkeeper or similar vendor). The rest is just Sugar and more Leavening Agent, both easily obtainable from Inkeepers/Cooking Vendors.

Fig Pie:

The second easiest to obtain is Fig Pie. Super simple to make, you only need 5 Figs, 3 Dough, 3 Sugar, and 2 Olive Oil. Figs can be bought from the MP or gathered by a worker from Akman (CP 8), Shakatu Farmland 1 (CP 6), or Shakatu Farmland 3 (CP 6). Dough can be made by shaking wheat/cereal flour with Mineral Water (bought from shop). The Sugar and Olive Oil can also be bought from the shop.

Couscous:

Next, we have the Couscous. Slightly more involved, but still not horrendous to make. You’ll need 1 Freekeh Snake Stew, 6 Teff Flour Dough, 3 Nutmeg, and 4 Vegetable. Please note: the Calpheon Fruit Vendor also sells Paprika, which is technically a vegetable. This will save you some CP when investing into farms. Nutmeg can be gathered from Bazzar Farmland (CP 5) and Iris Canyon (CP 4). Teff Flour Dough can be made by mixing Teff Flour and Mineral Water. Teff can be farmed at Atlas Farmland 1 (CP 4), Atlas Farmland 2 (CP 4), Bazaar Farmland 2 (CP 5), Capotia 2 (CP 4), Fohalam Farm 1 (CP 5), and Titum Valley 3 (CP 6).

The final ingredient, Freekeh Snake Stew is going to require some gathering. Snake meat is always sold out on the MP and is critical to making this dish. I recommend checking out this guide from Heaven to learn more about Snake and Scorpion Meat gathering. You’ll need a butcher knife for this, and I’d recommend using a magical one unless you’re going to spend money on gathering clothes and a loggia/manos butcher knife.

Freekeh can be farmed by a worker from Bambu Valley (CP 4) and Valencia Plantation (CP 5). Star Anise can be farmed by a worker from Kmach Canyon 1 (CP 4) and Shakatu Farmland 2 (CP 6). Mineral Water can be bought from the vendor.

King of Jungle Hamburg:

Now that we have a base understanding of where to get most of our ingredients, making King of Jungle Hamburg should seem a little less daunting. It’s made up of 4 Lion Meat, 4 Teff Bread, 2 Pickled Vegetables, and 3 Nutmeg. Nutmeg we’ve already got, so we don’t need to worry about that. If you’re running low, buying some from the MP or throwing up a pre-order won’t hurt.

Pickled Vegetables are also super easy to make, just need 8 Vegetables, 4 Vinegar, 2 Leavening Agent, and 2 Sugar. Vinegar is a simple 1-1-1-1 recipe of Fruit, Starch, Leavening Agent, and Sugar.

Teff Bread is also super simple, just 5 Teff flour, 3 Mineral Water, 2 Salt, and 2 Leavening Agent.

Finally, we’ll need lion meat. Another key ingredient that is usually sold out, Lion Meat requires a little time and effort. Luckily, Heaven has made another fantastic video, this time on a Lion Meat Rotation. Once you’ve gathered the meat that you need, its on to the final ingredient: Teff Sandwiches.

Teff Sandwich:

Teff Sandwiches are made up of four ingredients: 1 Teff Bread, 1 Grilled Scorpion, 1 Freekeh Snake Stew, and 3 Red Sauce. Personally, I like to buy the Red Sauce off the MP since the difference in cost of making/buying is so minimal. The Freekeh Snake Stew we should already have some of from earlier. We should also have leftover Teff Bread that we’ll use, which leaves us with the Grilled Scorpion. This is probably the most time-gated and invasive ingredient we’ll make.

Grilled Scorpion is made up of 3 Scorpion Meat (gathered earlier), 2 Butter (shaking cream with salt), 3 Nutmeg, and 3 Hot Pepper. The hot peppers are always sold out on the MP and getting a PO is somewhat of a joke. For starters, my recommendation is going to the seed vendor in Calpheon and buying the seeds there. If you’re trying to make meals as fast as possible, I’d use 10 strong fences to maximize the harvests. You can also throw up a PO on the market and hope to get some additional peppers, but I wouldn’t count too much on that. Once you have the peppers you need, you can finally craft the Valencia Meals!

Closing Thoughts:

By gathering a few hours each week, we can cut down on the overall number of Valencia Meals we buy from the Marketplace for our Imperial Turn-ins each day, thus boosting our overall weekly income. I can't give an accurate number of how much additional profit each person will make by making some of the meals over buying them because it depends on each person's time, worker level, node level, whether or not they have a hedgehog when gathering, etc. I hope this makes everyone's life a little bit easier when making boxes!

Thank you for taking the time to read this! Let me know if you have suggestions or comments below. o7

I have to say as a filthy casual I stopped making Valencia and convert to O'dyllita. I'm Guru hunter and making these meals with the resources I gain is a lot easier for me than gathering different types of meats versus one type to make the meals.
