This game hard locks moves into certain key combos in order to launch all your attacks..... So SHIFT+W will always be BLAH keystroke to cast BLAH move

 

I think this is horrible game design at its best.... and down right sadistic by nature.

Lots of people have a hard time hitting certain key strokes in fast action.... you toss in SHIFT Keys and HOLD this and HOLD that.... and you end up with a class you may love, feeling like a hotmess of key combos that just dont flow well at all.

 

I think in 2021 it is high time you let us rebind our keys to some degree. There is no excuse why I cant change some of these to other combos that i feel work better.... So instead of SHIFT+Q i can rebind it to SHIFT+T or whatever.... if you want to force us to have to hit a SHIFT key mod before another key that is fine... but give us some control over shifting some of these keys around... I have thrown in the towel on some classes I really enjoyed simple because you have me smashing my pinky on SHIFT for half the damn combos.

 

And then you can tell on some classes you just flat out gave up .... like it is so obvious how little you cared about thinking out the class and its key combos that it hurts..... Corsair Awake is a perfect example...... probably one of the worst keybind setups I have seen you guyss do so far, the entire class now feels like a clunky mess. Half her moves are quickslot ONLY attacks.... and since I cant rebind my freaking keys to anything logical.... I now have a row of moves 1-6 on my hotbar that on every other class are free and can be used for other things like potions or scrolls..... so now when I play awake im doing her normal key combos and SHIFT attacks along with having to randomly tag 1-6 keys to toss in other parts of her combos..... she plays like a tug boat trying to win a race against a speedboat. Please understand that giving the player more control to create their key combos that work better for them is not in any way giving players an edge... if anything you are making the playing field more even imo. 

 

This just my opinion on the matter, but it is time to rethink how you setup key combos and force players to learn those combos. We should be givin a list of viable bind combos and then let us set our toon up how we want. If you want to do it something allong the lines of how you do the ALT binding that is fine.... but let us pick the letter or number that goes with the SHIFT or ALT bind. Stop forcing us to play the way YOU think is best. Give us the player the control we deserve over our class.

You can rebind the "shift" modification to any key you want.  You can rebind QWEASDF key combo keys to whatever you want.  Instead of SHIFT+Q you can rebind it to be W+Q.

 

Personally I rebound shift to A, Q to W, and then moved WADS to ESFD, then moved E over to R and F over to G.  makes the "pinky reach" so much easier.  There are also people that have rebound Shift to XT Mouse Button 1.

 

Your entire suggestion is already in the game.

Ur right and wrong. I was having the same issue till I just picked up a logitech keyboard an mouse.

The game wont let you rebind Alt, and i wanted that as my shift functionality ingame.(like to use my thumb instead of the pinky) So I hardware changed it. Also he's stating that he basicly wants to be able to keybind hotkeys and quickbar moves into custom key combos. So for instance his hotkey 1 could be keybound to shift+Q then lockout the default shift+q move. Sounds counter productive till you relize one can now make q, e,f, left click and right click into multiple different move sets, all conveniantly located within comfort.

 

I have a whole another click to move set up that works very nice for me. Left click is move, strife locked to mouse buttons, then I have my whole left hand free to do move combos and block. Works for me, but because left click used to be the games interact function, it would bug out some things. They have since fixed that, so maybe this could be something to look into as well.

 

Another thing is, I noticed that for the corsair awakened quest the move pop ups reconized my keybind changes..Very nice feature. I didnt have to translate shift+left click into my personal keybinds.

They should make the skill screen reflect your key rebinds as well. At the moment it does not.
