BDO's engine is quite peculiar; landmasses and mountains on the horizon would be somewhat approximated and become more precise the closer you get, not perfect but the vistas are beautiful.
But since the August 25th update I'm seeing stuff that is just plain ugly and nothing in the patch notes about any updates to the engine but surely something happened. I let the launcher do a file scan, drivers are up to date.
Huge gaps in the geometry that you can see through the map, islands that shouldn;t be there and then disappear: and all this is not small and far away on the horizon but almost close to mid-range.
The gaps will last several seconds then shift further away while there current position is updated with textures.
Louruve approach from west. A new island? Nope
It's very frequent and all over the place and reproducible; I've done the Hakoven run several times and the same glitches pop up at the same places. Same for Louruve, go back west, turn around and the same extra island will be there then vanish when you get close enough.
I've been bartering for 4 months straigth on a daily basis and it's totally different since patch and not in a good way.
u could have simply just put your thoughts in the already very big topic, which is always on first page of results, instead of bringing up another post, with the same topic..
Far away trees resp. tree LOD gone since update

I don't think they are the same topic; related to the game engine? Sure. Besides, it's a 3 months old post.
Some have posted in there with cleary the same issues I'm having that came up with yesterday's patch.
I can live 6 months with missing trees on the horizon but this ugly ongoing Jackson Pollock terraforming, that wasn't there 3 days ago, has to go asap.
Have the same problem since the last update I think, many distant objects appear displaced and correct themselves when you get close.

well the guy that started it has updated it it inclued the latest patch that mess it up even more
Hi, I am also having this issue since the August 25th patch. its super noticable on boat in ocean near ancado as well as in desert.
It is not only since August, it already started in April or May, when they released improvements to the Hadum/Elvia weather, so that it would have been more natural the regional change on the map. After those updates, the trees started to get reduced in the far distance. Which already many mentioned in the other post.
And yeah now with the last two weeks updates, the graphical glitches increased, which i think can be based on the new implementation of the AMD FidelityFX integration,
or also starting already four/five weeks ago with implementing of Atoraxxion and the Mansions, which brought new visual Materials, Layers, etc. in the Engine or the environment, and created probably double-linked paths to the code or something else misleading to other objects and materials ingame.
I think they already know about that, and are working already hard on that...
You guys will be lucky if they every got around to fixing this. More so when they make their money off of new classes and higher gear grinding spots.
It's affecting no small amount of people I imagine.
And it's not subtle. It's MASSIVE chunks of terrain missing, there's always holes in the world now, no matter where I am, there's a hole in the distance, sometimes multiple. It ruins one of the game's strongest aspects, that being environment.
