From a recent announcement, "We are currently thinking of a system where Adventurers will be able to set incremental goals to add a sense of progression culminating in the attainment of PEN (V) gear."

Dear Pearl Abyss, you already have a system where this is possible. Caphras. Everyone can Caphras TRI to C20 and 100% gaurantee a TET. Everyone can Caphras TET to C20 and 100% gaurantee a PEN.  The numbers are a bit crazy, but that can be changed.

If you want a system where adventurers set incremental goals to add progression and attain PEN gear... you already have it.

DO NOT add a new feature. ADJUST the existing feature!!

If no one is using Caphras to enhance gear from TRI to TET to PEN, ask yourself why? Re-examine the system and adjust it until it makes sense.

In my opinion, one of BDO's greatest weaknesses, is that there are too many systems, and too many of these systems do not interrelate or synergize with each other, they are too separate and disjointed.  It leaves an impression that the garden is in disarray - new plants planted, but old ones wilting untended. This is a messy impression and is not ideal. Adding yet more features should be considered carefully; and the question must always be asked - what existing systems can be leveraged to achieve what we desire, instead of adding a new system?

Don't add yet another progression system while an old one languishes, take care of the existing system to ensure its viability.

Currently, TET Boss armor requires 9729 caphras to go from C0 to C20, to get a gauranteed PEN. At current prices, this is nearly DOUBLE the market cost of a PEN armor.

Currently, TET Awakening weapon requires 17689 caphras to go from C0 to C20, to get a gauranteed PEN. At current prices, this is nearly FIVE TIMES the market cost of a PEN Dandelion.

Just adjust those values! The system for incremental progress already exists and it already is interlinked with many other gameplay systems. Why would you abandon it and build something new? Please maintain and value the features you have already built. Caphras is a good system, just adjust the TRI/TET values so that people see them as viable and your goal will be accomplished. A single system, harmoniously interlinked with the others, is a great thing that shows the strength of a game where various things all come together as one gigantic puzzle comprised of many parts that rely on each other. Caphras enhancement achieves this - it is just incorrectly calibrated to be too expensive to be viable. Do not add yet more features, when existing features only require mere adjustment to accomplish everything that is necessary.

Is it just me or Pearl Abyss probably has accessories in mind and this wooshed miles above of your paragraph about armors and weapons.

That may be true... I've always thought of "gear" as specifically weapons and armors but it may be that PA doesn't make that distinction.

Regardless, even if i'm just shouting unnecessarily into the void here, I still believe that Caphras enhancing value from TRI & TET should be recalibrated.

I agree about balancing caphras requirements, since Caphras are marketable: people can progress way faster by selling stones and buying upgraded gear, therefore it's very likely that most players don't use caphras upgrade path.

Besides, it's very likely that PA has accessories in mind because why making such a statement they made despite the fact a progressive upgrade system already exists for the other gear ?

Those PR annouments barely matters anything really. At most they add one or two more PEN ring like questline to help players getting their PEN's, or some other pointless pitty system, but don't forget they make the most of their income from P2W enchanting, they never really gonna change it.

Sure maybe they make PEN boss more easily acessible, but they simultaneously push the limit further, dismishing the gains entirely.

Some dumb palyers maybe feel a little better with that, but realistically even full PEN ain't endgame nowdays, and with the release of full fallen good (which will going to happen), it will going to lose it's value fast.
