Is PA trying to completely phase out life-skilling?

Hello all,

So time and time again the issue of combat vs life is visited on the forums.

We kind of banter and play and throw some jokes around, but nothing happens to the real balance of the game.

PA does not seem to make meaningful changes to life-skilling that keeps players going, because the silver per hour on combat is now seeing continual improvement for both new and old players it is hard to ignore it and just keep doing life-skilling.

If you life-skill you are being left behind and are probably pretty poor. Silver does not come easy and therefor the progress does not come easy.

I am writing this post because I am a 2000 mastery life-skiller who gathers everyday. I have over 140 billion silver invested into my life gear to get the 2000 mastery. I have over 600 hours gathering to get the 2000 mastery.

Was it worth it? I see new players go make a season+ character and go grind for a few weeks to get full PEN tuvala. Then with the 241ap/309dp tuvala gear roll up in new valencia loot spots and make more silver per hour than I do with 2000 mastery.

What is wrong with this picture?

Why does 2000 mastery, 600 invested hours, and 140 billion silver worth of gear make less silver than season+ PEN tuvala that took less than a month to make and was basically given for free?

Dear PA, if you want lifeskillers to just dissapear... erase all life-skilling from BDO and get it over with.

It feels like PA keeps making combat better and better....

Discouraging any diversity in the game.

It makes you want to quit life-skilling.

This is horrible.

Their focus has clearly been on combat, and they seem to continually be working on changes related to it, whereas lifeskill changes come far more infrequently. That being said, they do have changes to trade planned, and they've acknowledged that players want them to do more with lifeskilling, but they indicated that they weren't going to make any changes beyond the trade stuff until next year - and that was before they rearranged their priorities to focus more on reworking existing content and get the class reworks done sooner. They have said nothing about whether their focus on reworking existing content will include lifeskills or whether that can got kicked even further down the road.

So, all in all, I would say that they haven't completely forgotten about lifeskilling, but it's also definitely a second class citizen. And unless the folks in KR do a lot of complaining about it, I wouldn't really expect that to change.

I do life skill for fun.

Mobs grind in BDO this is the most boring job, and the most toxic experience throughout my mmo life (and I've been playing mmo games for over 15 years).

But yes, life skill should give us a comparable amount of income to grind monsters because manos gear costs the same or even more.

Life Skilling should only ever be 50% of grinding because life skilling is afk where as grinding is active.  Level of effort should determine level of income from said effort.

Ok give me logs and meat from afk.

I agree, they literally just added guild skills for conquest and node wars, yet so many buffs for life skilling are missing

Likewise, you get a combat scroll from logging in everyday, but there's no option for a life skill xp buff

There needs to be more group lifeskill activities aswell, aside from just hunting

Diversity gives everyone options

It feels like there is no direction at PA in terms of Lifeskilling, not long term objective, and certainly no one employed there as the 'Lifeskill lead developer' or title to that effect.

Taking a step back, this is yet another topic (and justifiably so) from the community asking again for the same thing; balance. Whether it's silver from grinding, PvP combat, Lifeskill income/oportunity, PvE dungeons/group content, the horrible level 0-50 experience, etc etc... At the end of the day all are fundamentally asking for one thing; for PA to develop and commit to a long-term plan, put in the effort and balance content from top to bottom, and across various in-game activities.

I get what you're saying, but...

"If you life-skill you are being left behind and are probably pretty poor. Silver does not come easy and therefor the progress does not come easy."

This is such a horrible take. If you are someone who enjoys fast progression, then I can see a plausible point. Progressors wants to catch up to end game/other competitors and enjoys challenging themselves to stay on the top of the charts.

If you are someone who don't enjoy fast progression, whether because you can't care or because you simply don't have time due to real life matters, you are not going to "fall behind" others if you have a goal of your own.

You keep thinking everybody can only play an MMO one way, but there is several ways to play a game. It doesn't need to amount to maximum exp/silver/ per hour. My progression is not the same as yours. My progression in this game is to gain decent Lifeskill gear(which I have achieved by having a full Manos TRI set, along with a TET tool, so my "progression" is done until further notice) and collect things the market needs since it's incredibly dry to begin with. You may disagree and think that it's a waste of time or that I am being financially irresponsible, but that's how I want to play the game. I don't enjoy combat, and I don't plan on getting end game armor because I am not interested in such. I enjoy full lifeskilling above all and that is what I intend to do regardless of opinions trying to persuade me into doing something I don't enjoy. I don't want to do 50% life 50% combat for money. I want 100% lifeskilling even if that is "less money".

You also have to keep in mind that Lifeskilling is not supposed to be like combat. Farming takes time. It takes effort. It takes time and it takes dedication. It's not a swish swosh biggidy dosh. It does have flaws that I agree with, but it's "dead" because of the increasing mindset of "why should I grind it when I can buy it?" which has led us to a market where there are too many buyers and too little producers due to "YOU MUST do this right now or else you are bad/irresponsible/time waster/casual loser(insert insult here)". That's the mindset that will eventually destroy a game.

Just for clarification so that there's no misunderstanding. When I say "you" I do not mean you, OP, personally. I mean you as in general common opinions. I respect your opinions and I even agree to an extent, but my god. A minute more or five is not going to make a world's difference unless you are in a life or death situation(you'd probably not even play something at that hour if such was the case) or waking up at 6 in the morning playing until you've got work. It's most likely not going to kill you... unless you have some sort of butt hemorrhoids that's going to explode by sitting too long.

Sorry for the wall. Not trying to diss those that enjoys progression of both combat and life. I'm just tired of being relentlessly told that I'm playing the game wrongly or making the wrong progression or else I'm being left behind, as if I care about getting gear for a content I don't enjoy.
