As per title, I like the fact that there's more to be done inside the dungeon, but for crying out loud! I spend the time sniffing the bushes instead of admiring the view.

Add some items that are less inconspicuous, some trails leading to different vantage points, something more than just a "dusty beach" or whatever message when you pass over it. I don't know if it's just lazy design or the way you people view this concept, but it isn't very engaging, nor fun, nor is it adding as much as it could. It's frustrating to take the approach "Hm, to hell with immersion! Where would a sneaky designer hide a point of interest?".
