I play this game together with my wife for more than 2 years. Unfortunatelly we have to agree on many opinions here. BDO has so far most toxic community from all other MMORPGs we were playing before. Even EU Tera community was better compared to EU BDO.

You can thank PA for this too. I've posted this a thousand times now but I'll happily post it ten thousand more times cause it shows why BDO has the most toxic community.

Any other MMORPG hell any game with online functions has been know to permanently ban users for toxicity, but PA their response to in-game death threats is this copy paste message "We aim to encourage a PVP forced mind set among our players, and therefore see nothing wrong with the messages this user posted in-game". How the fuck they deem personal death threats over something that happened in a video game as acceptable behavior is beyond me, especially sense in reality you can be arrested an charged for threatening to kill someone. This is the #1 reason BDO has the most toxic community ever seen because PA has zero rules about posting messages that are deemed illegal to say if you said them in reality.

I believe everyone should just play and do whatever they want to in an MMO. If players want to follow whatever made-up rules, that's up to them. Looking down on others because they ignore or disagree with your ''way'' of playing the videogame is just plain childish.
I used to agree to DFS, until I realized that people asking that just want you to move your butt out of the spot without loosing any karma. And it has nothing to do with being polite, considering they flag and kill you almost everytime if you refuse, and then complain about you not leaving. If a person comes suddenly rushing and asking me to leave, I simply won't leave, even if they come with half of their guild ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Incorrect, this mentality means that everyone wastes time.

Are you playing a video game where you grind countless hours to get stronger so you can grind countless more so you can get stronger, repeat until vomit, and complaining about a waste of time?

See what I mean about today's gamers?

To be honest I dont see how anyone can talk about politeness, in the last 2-3 years I've seen enough hipocrisy to last me a lifetime. Would be nice if it worked on the PvX servers, yes if it WORKED. For me, the amount of DFS has been considerably less compared to people jumping on my ass while Im surrounded by mobs, spawning in front of me with maid still doing the bow and claiming they were there "before", or just seeing me and going straight up to pure shittalking. Oh, also people who will ask that you dont disturb them when the bell is on, and then when your bell is up it suddenly "doesnt" matter, this "politeness" bc now oh no there is a few of them grinding which means f your bell. Also, people jumping into the mobs right in front of you (continuously), ganking you without a word, and then switching to polite mode like Im some kind of npc that insta forgets. Isn't that literally insane? Oh, and in duels as well, you've got those players that mandatorily hit that V, or after losing beg to stay to finish their scroll, or send guildmates to duel for them once they've lost. If you try to play by "the rules" the only person that loses is you. On arsha, I dont really give a shit about this. but on mixed servers where everyone pretends to be a sheep and a wolf at the same time, ohhh, it grinds my gears...

I mean, yeah, that's why people ask for dfs lol, so they can take the spot without losing karma. They could guild Dec as well, but a dfs is much more cordial.

I don't ask for dfs, I have my reasons, but I don't ask for dfs. My friends give me crap because I have the gear, class, and mechanics to steam roll almost anyone but idk, I just rather search for an open rotation or wait til one opens up (anti-social, I guess). They're like "if I had your gear, I'd merk everyone" I'm like, "nah" lol idk how to explain it.

I almost always accept dfs requests, but have denied a few and it went well. Not many though, I will dfs anyone, anywhere, anytime. Maybe what's causing people to act hostile towards you is because of your attitude? Idk it's tough to say without knowing the details of the engagement. Maybe you were rude to them, so they took offense. Or maybe they're just plain jerks. Who knows?

I don't have any attitude. I never start a conversation when another player arrives, and I keep it to a minimum because I still don't ignore people. However I am guildless and that seems to tick people off a lot, since they themselves keep mentioning it in almost every conversation once things don't go smoothly for them. Eitherway, dwelling on it is meaningless. Players have more then enough ways to deal with others in this game, neither of ''sides'' should result to being rude and insult eachother with all these options present.

I see, and I agree.  IMO, DFS is a means to figure out "who gets a spot", which is something not laid out by the game itself, but rather, through the choices players are given considering the game's systems.  With the way the game is setup, many players feel whoever is stronger should get the spot, and DFS is a great system to resolve spot conflicts in this way.  I both agree and disagree with the premise, but my honest opinion is that it really boils down to the individuals in the scenario, and their values and whatnot...some people say stronger player gets the spot, some say first person gets it, some say it's a free for all, some say everyone should just share.  IMO, there's no clear-cut "right" and "wrong" answer, I just know what I do and how I feel when it comes to certain situtations.

DFS doesn't seem like a great idea as the one who will win is more than likely the one who could move to a higher area but prefers a low area because better drop options.

Well it will definaltely slow or even halt a new players progress.

I would posture the opposite, the one who loses shouldn't be at the spot in the first place.  Those players are hindering their own progress by taking on content too hard for their gear.

Duel for spot is absolutely not fair, for the following reasons:

- The invading player has nothing to lose, while the defending player might have expensive or rare scrolls running

- Gear difference. The higher gear score usually wins.

- Class difference. Some classes simply outclass others, even if gear is equal.

The best solution is to just be nice to each other. Ask the currently grinding player for how long they have left on their scrolls, and more often than not they will answer fairly. While waiting for your turn you can always play on another character, go get some drinks, or simply swap server and ask there. Alternately, you can do another rotation if available.

Now I understand if the grinding player is hogging the spot for multiple hours, I fully understand that by then you should be able to just take over the spot. But most players grind for one hour (duration of most scrolls) and are done after.

Of course, if both players agree on duel for spot then it's fair and no harm is done either. But I'm talking about the scenario where the defender is not willing to duel.

As an alternate solution, I think "Battle arena for spot" is more fair. Duke it out against each other with a trial character of choice, and the winner gets the spot. No gear difference, both players can take a class of choice, so it will be purely based on skill.

I agree with you 100% everything you write, you should read my Journey for the Infinite potions!
