Harpooning is a part of the game and it is mind numbingly tedious to attempt. Aside from the waves breaking the harpooning function completely, trying to actually sail a fishing boat with any counter current or wind is inane.

A simple fix would be having harpooning function as mounting a cannon in that you can not be washed off the boat and giving fishing boats immunity to sea current. 

A workaround for the harpoon currently is to keep spamming spacebar which seems to keep you in the searching minigame. So if that can not be addressed at least flick the switch on sea current immunity so actually sailing the ship isn't a waste of time.

You can also use harpoons on Cogs which are significantly faster than fishing boats at least. Cant buy cogs of the market though so you have to get them from quests or craft them yourself.

Personally, I think that they should just make it possible to use a harpoon off of any boat. The requirement to use a fishing boat or Epheria Cog to actually catch anything makes no sense and is just annoying. It's also really confusing, since the game will let you try to harpoon from any boat - or even from land - and never tells you that you're doing anything wrong. So, when you start out, it's easy to waste a ton of time trying to figure out why you're never getting anything with a harpoon.

Say no more, I never knew that. It would be nice if they fixed fishing boats for sure but this at least offers a reasonable alternative until they do.

What's the point of posting something they know about there where it will never get any real traction when I can post here for the majority of forum goers to read and weigh in on?

what we need is to remove the sea current completely from the game

there are a couple of special people that would tell u just avoid them since they don't change, yeah but I want to go that way, this is especially bad at grind spots like crocs where u are restricted to just 1 rotation because of the sea current is just that bad, also sea monsters themselves aren't affected by the current like...???????

Yeah never gonna change. I was playing 5 years ago and it hasn't changed yet. Glitchy buggy mess. They can't fix it. They don't know how. Archeage was a much better ocean. Everything about it was better. Their ships too.
