I'm sorry...but the amount of gear that I have spent 4.5 years collecting I can replicate with a fresh account in 6 months. If that isn't enough of a catchup mechanic...you really should be playing candyland and not any real game.

They don't need to make anything easier, they just need to make gear and progression at a good pace instead of being big jumps with super low RNG. Then they need to add PvE only servers and gear for PvP shouldn't be substantially different because it's about whoever grinds the longest or pays real money for the gear that will likely win. But if PvE servers exist, then they don't need to touch PvP gear, they just need to balance the classes which they are doing... maybe.
For people arguing against PvE only servers, why? How would that negatively affect you? It wouldn't. It would just be more inviting to more people since most people are PvErs not PvPers. Of course, if you're a troll/griefer it would affect you though since you couldn't grief anymore.
Have you seen Evildousharm's seasonal streams? The guys LOVES seasonal because no PvP...or so he says...but he ends up on normal servers a lot because the seasonal ones are toxic as all hell. The threat of PvP makes people MOSTLY behave. MOSTLY. Now having EVENT zones be PvP is just idiotic as that is ASKING for those who won't behave to misbehave and inflict maximium damage easily by painting a big red grief here for maximium damage sign. But overall, openworld PvP means people act nicer in general than on seasonal where people are a-holes.

idk man, since "catching up" became faster and faster new players hit that "you next upgrade is 40b" wall even faster and just quit, game baits new players with quick upgrades and then BOOM 4month commitment for 3ap...

The truth always hurts, which is why so many minuses for OP.
And the sad truth is: PA has given you (new players) absolutely nothing to compete against 4-5 year old players.
If you think that in a year you will have these "guaranteed" pens and you will mean something, you are seriously wrong.
Typical "old gamers" stats? Above 300 AP and above 400 DP. And they will kill you in your "pens" in 2 hits. So, good luck.

BDO is a game that grows with you, and you, with it. And you're on this ride for the ride itself, not the final destination - Because there is no "final destination" in BDO. Progression is virtually limitless and that's been one of the game's selling point since day 1 - the fact there is no "hard-cap", aside from gear (but hardcapped gear is unacheivable by most). You're here for the "Adventure" (the journey / the grind / friends or foes you meet) in BDO.
BDO is a long-term style game. It's not supposed to be the type of game where you get to max in a month and wait around for next expansion.
Truly one of the most unique MMO's (good and bad, like everything) on the market right now and I think it's uniqueness is one thing keeping this game afloat. Not all MMO players want a "fast-food" experience where you pay money to skip content, or pay money to max level, or pay money to skip expansions, or ask friends to carry you to BiS.

I dread at the thought of someone who comes in 1 year into bdo and has the same gear as someone who started on release. THAT will be the day I quit bdo. No thanks.

It's possible though, only the limit on your creditcard limits how fast you can progress in this game.
Obviously this isn't common thing as it's rather costly, but technically possible.

As a new player looking at the upgrading process, the sad sad lack of way to increase chance past a certain % and the overall expensive cash shop im done with BDO. I got lucky drops some new players would die for, but there is no light, the price of getting just pen items to c20 alone would take years upon years of grinding let along acc's and the rest of the garbage. Good riddens
Pair of new players i took under my wing hit 620gs casually playing in 7 or 8 months. Also its "riddance" so can kiddo. Also they're f2p with the exception of a tent

we all grinder our underwear off on BDO the reason we are still here is that we love it there is nothing else like it out there.. yes something needs to be done about the new player. DEV needs to take another look at the new upgrade system I'm talking about the magical shard replacing this for another item like Dark spirit Greed or something they can farm. farming yellow crystal is not it

Where will "new player" be fighting that "full gear PEN player with full Caphras ench PEN gear player"? Where will they fight?
They won't ever run into each other. Full PEN c20 guy will be at end-game locations, likely on Arsha server, or doing AFK cooking. New player will be in Valencia on Calpehon 2 server. Full PEN c20 will be fighting in siege wars, and uncapped node wars. New player will be fighting in CAPPED T1 node wars.
RBF? OK well the game sucks with instanced PvP, RBF is the only instanced PvP we have. So only RBF.
New player encountering a full PEN c20 player is low, low chances. And full c20 guy won't even look at the new player, unless new player is being an idiot, they won't even touch them in open world.
